Imagine being this flippant about someone trying to overturn a presidential election.

Mind boggling.
I guess I just dealt with it shortly after it. I was done with Trump after. I want him to just go away now. He had his chance.
But I don't need it to be rehashed gleefully by democrats and the media every day since nor wallow in misery like the never trumpers..

It was a dark day. But democracy wasn't at stake. The republic wasn't falling or any other ridiculous reach people want to make.

This was nowhere near as dark as the Bonus Army. 260 starving veterans of the US army were massacred by their own military in front of their famies in Washington DC because they were protesting that bonuses due to them were being withheld. 17,000 of them in all.

On top of that, the final insult was piling all of the US veterans in one huge pile and burning them.

I'm sorry if some of us don't see a bunch of hooligans breaking into the Capitol to cause trouble as being on the same level as that, or 911 or the civil war or the DC being conquered in 1812.

This is such an absurd take I can’t even.

You realize he’s about to run again right?

It’s also beyond ironic that the crowd that’s constantly talking about upholding law and order and wanting to make sure we’re tough on crime are the same people giving Trump a complete pass on everything regarding Jan 6th. Hmmm wonder why? If that had been BLM storming the capital we’d be talking about executing people.

Sleeper agent Ray Epps orchestrated it all, the followers all listened to him and carried out his wishes. Ray is Q. Buy Alex Jones size pills to discover the truth about Ray Epps!

Ah yes, I'm sure there is a perfectly logical reason that the only guy caught on tape on January 5th telling people to go INTO the Capitol, that he hasn't been prosecuted in any way.

It's also reasonable that the great bastion of truth, The New York Times, published a puff piece on Ray Epps. That we should somehow feel bad for Ray Epps. My God. If you are upset about the Jan 6th insurrection, why aren't you calling for the arrest of Ray Epps, he was telling people to do it.

But yes, I'm sure it's all just a conspiracy theory.

You all know I hate Trump, but that doesn't mean that I don't have a brain and can smell a rat.

I'm going to make a very controversial statement.......yes, arrest anyone that partook in the insurrection. I know I know, wild claim but I believe I must state that anyone who had a role in it should be held accountable.

NYT who regularly provides cover for the Jared/Ivanka is not an org I'd say has credibility on determining someone's morality. I don't care for his life, he made the choice to be a fucking moron and go take part in an insurrection....fuck around and find out. Hold them all accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

It's insane the scapegoating is put all on some dumb redneck. It's like blaming Brandon Tiassum for the 2016 nightmare season.

He was impeached for what occurred. As far as arrest, I'm not sure there is an actual crime other than the criminal trespassing and criminal mischief. Sure, prosecute them all.

And why are we still calling it an insurrection? The FBI literally released a statement that said that it was not. I understand why the media and the left WANT it to be but it wasn't.

I hope he doesn't run again. He had his shot. I actually worry that someone might do something stupid during the campaign because so many just hate him so much. Heck the gop NY governor nominee almost got ripped open last night with an edged weapon.

They should have some sort of hearings about January 6th to get to the bottom of it.

Here's a link to a Time article that gives an update on how many people have been arrested and what some of the punishments were. Longest sentence so far is 63 months. Median sentence so far is 45 days. I have no idea if that number will increase as maybe some of the more serious cases haven't been tried yet. People that entered the Capitol and had nothing to do with any violence are obviously being prosecuted, but aren't faced with any significant jail time.

More than 840 people have been arrested for storming the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021, with charges ranging from obstruction of an official proceeding to assault. But 17 months after the attempted insurrection, a significant number of rioters are still awaiting their sentencing.

Only around a quarter of those arrested—185 individuals—have received criminal sentences, while the rest are waiting for their trials or haven’t yet reached plea agreements. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, 80 defendants were sentenced to periods of incarceration, with longer prison terms for those who engaged in violence or threats. So far, the median prison sentence for the Jan. 6 rioters is 45 days. An additional 57 rioters have been sentenced to periods of home detention, while most sentences have included fines, community service and probation for low-level offenses like illegally parading or demonstrating in the Capitol, which is a misdemeanor.

Several have already been tried and convicted of SEDITIOUS CONSPIRACY

Enjoy these next four months of your Jan. 6 love affair as much as you can.

I understand the next round of hearings will be in September. Coincidentally, that's when my copies of the directors cut of Breakin' and Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo will arrive from overseas. I know what I'll be watching.
September, you say? It's almost like this is just a show trial to try and sway November votes...I'll be pretty shocked if Trump or anyone high up faces "justice" after all this. That was never their goal.

There is a big difference between sedition and outright insurrection.

Ok, so a couple of people engaged in seditious behavior. They were charged and will do about 5 years. Good.

I did. Makes me sick to see what these treacherous pieces of shit did and will likely get away with.

Both witnesses, who resigned on Jan 6, both said this was the darkest day in American history for them. I shared that opinion but here on this forum it was just a nothing burger and I am wrong about feeling like that. Nice to know people on the opposite side of the spectrum from me at least are capable of accepting what happened was totally unacceptable and they at least share my assessment

Dude was a fascist from the jump. Anyone could see it if they opened their eyes. Jan 6 was inevitable … if this treasonous piece of shit gets away with this this country is doomed!

At this point, denying what happened just means you are an asshole or brain dead… and maybe both.

Again, go tell that to the FBI. I only posted about 5 articles on it above. But I'm sure you know more about what happened than them.

Nobody denies that it was a dark, igly and sad day. But just because you want it to be insurrection, doesn't make it so.

Just like I think this whole committee is absurd. We can agree to disagree and that's fair.
The DOJ is behind the pace of the committee, it seems. They asked for testimony from the committee’s witnesses last month, suggesting they learned things during the hearings that surprised them or at least they wanted to verify. If I was Garland I wouldn’t want to announce, as the Secret Service is about to be forced to do, that there were members of his FBI staff who may have been compromised and running interference. Impossible, right? That’s what I thought about the Secret Service. But I suspect that will be left to the committee to expose if its true. It’s pretty clear that this conspiracy has more participants. Those liberals like Liz Cheney are circling like vultures and all of those Trump supporting staffers are bailing. She keeps saying they are getting more information every day. I believe her.

Someone had too long of a happy hour on a Friday. Jan 6th is a dark day in American history but it won't doom the country. Here's what could:

9% inflation
Looming recession
The fed printing trillions
Dependence on foreign oil
Wide open borders and the nanny state that comes with it
401k's being gutted by the worst stock market performance in 50 years
Cultural decline

Try to put things in perspective.

But not the violent coup to try to reverse the will of the voters? If I’m not mistaken I said this is where we were headed 5 years ago and you said I was wrong then, too. Wisdom really isn’t your thing.

The violent coup where none of the protesters fired a shot or killed anyone. Tell us again how you can usurp the government with the most powerful military in the world with a fire extinguisher and flag poles. It was never going to happen, even if they somehow managed to coerce and organize the crowd with the goal of taking over. Nobody put up a fight when the National Guard ordered them to leave. It would truly have been a bloodbath if they had to use force to remove the protesters, but the result would have been the same. It never came to that, not even close.

This bs about it being an attempted coup or America's darkest moment or a threat to democracy is the silliest, over-dramatic nonsense ever. It's like listening to a hysterical 13-year-old girl crying that the canceled Bieber concert is the worst thing in music history. I can think of a long list of things that were MUCH greater threats to democracy or darker moments than a bunch of yahoos acting like morons. All the overreaction and desperate attempt to make it more than it was is nothing but political theater and manipulation of the gullible.

I guess you don’t own a television and have missed the last 8 hearings laying out the plot in detail. Also, this may shock you but when playing peekaboo the person doesn’t really disappear when the hands cover the face. Roll Tide.

BLM did very similar to many cities, government buildings, etc… and nothing was done.

I don’t condone Jan 6th and would prefer Ron Desantis over trump but I’ll take any republican over another democratic president, even if that means trump. Our country is in a historically bad spot almost solely due to democratic policy
