Don't see how he comes back from this.

It'll be difficult but if I were the Trump campaign I'd start by talking about specific parts of the bill they disagree with. I think they need to get into the details and explain to the people where the disagreements came from.

Or maybe he wants to direct Mnuchin to send the checks out via Executive Order so he can take more credit for it. Regardless, if the checks don't get mailed, I think he's sunk.

This would be super smart, but does he have the power to do that? If he could, why wouldn't every President send everyone $2000 right before the election?

Because all American politicians, including the president, are beholden to a donor class that doesn't like paying taxes. When the Feds start sending checks to the plebeians, our aristocrats get nervous and start hand-waving about imaginary bullshit like "the deficit". Federal handouts are only for the well-heeled apparently.

Holding stimulus hostage. What a childish move.

His last few months in office could get scary.

Not sure as I don't know the poster, but CNN and MSM have both likened the Trump SUV ride to Mussolini and NK, and a lot of folks are making fun of it. Going to guess the Mussolini aspect of the tweet is a dig on lib media.

Come on man. The dems attempted to add so many Christmas tree ornaments last go around it was hilarious. Haven't looked at the current delta, but going to give a wild guess it's the same. Who is really holding it hostage? Why can't they simply pass all the things they agree on, and fight about the rest after?

Pretty sure only Congress can appropriate funds, per the Constitution.

Didn't you hear our current President can use appropriated money as he wishes?

Half of states run out of funds for Trump's $300 unemployment expansion
(The Hill, 09/25/20)

After the unemployment boost expired, Trump signed an executive order to retool Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds for an additional $300 in weekly benefits.

States could add a further $100 from their own COVID-19 relief funds, but only three — Kentucky, Montana and West Virginia — opted to do so. South Dakota was the sole state to opt out of the program altogether.

But setting up a new system and requiring states to apply caused most to go at least a month before issuing their first payment. Ten states still haven't sent out their first payment under the order.

FEMA approved the Lost Wage Assistance program for six weeks to 49 states, along with Guam and Washington DC.

The president just pulled the plug on COVID relief negotiations until after the election.

Oh, don't worry, I'm sure he's going to change his mind in two days after he realizes how fucking dumb this is. That is, if he doesn't die first.

I'm still not convinced that this wasn't a production. I won't be convinced until we see some toe tags and body bags. I don't care how good the care is, 34 people and no deaths is statistically improbable.

How is Melania doing?

Her husband has yet to mention her, even during the most recent unhinged two hour Tweet rant, which should come as no surprise to anyone.

Barron? Barron have Covid?

Jared and Ivanka are pretty quiet and unseen as of late.

Fuentes is a perfect example of just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Never heard of the guy. Appears to me to be someone who is trying to make a name for himself by creating his only little posse who films him with their phones and tablets, then posts the crap out on social media hoping one day a network will pick him up.

No need to be the drama queen.

Yup. Save it for when Trump posts an army outside the WH and refuses to leave.

I have no dog in this fight.

Trump tweeted that she was doing well because she is much younger than him. He definitely referenced her condition early on.

I am not a fan of the Donald but let us appreciate the truth. Not saying you are misrepresenting.

Cheers and Go Irish!!

Pence is so much better at this than Trump, Biden, and Harris, my God. Its easy to get the feeling that she doesn't actually know anything and Pence knows everything even though neither of those things are true.

Yeah he’s incredibly skilled at this. You hardly notice he didn’t answer any question lol. You can definitely tell when Harris wouldn’t answer, but Pence actually answered less questions but you’d never know.

Pence is a smooth operator. RNC gonna smother Trump with a pillow to get him at the top of the ticket.

I couldn't for sure tell if I had a combo of rose-colored glasses and Kamala being genuinely terrible at this that was skewing it or not.

I cracked up when Biden picked her and social media was all "I CANNNOT WAIT to see her DESTROY Pence." She was awful in the Dem debates and was awful tonight.

That’s because she’s genuinely awful

I think you guys might be overstating how much Pence “won” just because he articulated his position with polish. I’m still waiting for the 538 focus group poll, which is one of the few truly legit debate ones, but the only “real” poll I saw from tonight had Kamala winning handily mainly because of women. We have no women on this board, and we lean right. So we have a warped perspective.

The poll I saw basically had women breaking 2-for-1 for Harris and men being even 50/50 split. The poll also had pretty even sampling close to one third each Democrat, Republican, and independent.

Harris was clearly told to follow the rules and not screw anything up. Her only truly “bad” moment was on the court packing, besides that it was just her passing up attack opportunities.

My personal opinion I give the nod to Pence, as I said in the other thread, but it’s by a small margin and I think a lot of women would say Harris won.
