This is why we need luxury boxes. They can be like the retirement home for fans. Go up there if you don't want to be loud and stand.

Attending live sports events like football and basketball are "young" person affairs [unless you are an unusually healthy elder]. Those occasions are for fans, not television environment "fans".

When I got old enough that my back was giving out, I recognized this clearly, and stopped attending personally --- unless it was a minor sport where I could sit almost the entire time. I realized that this game was not being played for me, nor did my ticket purchase give me some kind of extra privilege.

Growing old should educate a person that there are things that you just cannot have. Even a rich guy SHOULD learn such lessons, though they usually are such spoiled brats that they don't.

The games are for the young. To the old folks like myself: grow up... finally. ... It's not so bad.

This should be a terms and conditions box you check before purchasing tickets.

This. It would be so easy to put luxury boxes opposite of the press box and is the obvious solution.

"What I've noticed is there is a group of season-ticket holders who are the ones who are complaining it's too loud. They're there for socializing. It's an event. It's not a sporting event. It's not something to get raucous at."

When i'm there for the Wake game, my first ever, I dare one of those old bastards to say one word to me for "cheering" too loud. I'll be sure that he thinks twice about doing it to anyone else ever again. IT'S A FOOTBALL GAME!

Unbelieveable. This is not what I want to hear while making plans for my first ever game.

Agree 100% with this.. I have been told to sit Regularly, and I just look back and say I will during the time out...... Otherwise I am on my feet cheering and have yet to have a usher say something

I can't believe that people at a football game are telling people to "Sit down"....

How do you guys put up with that?

Down here in Texas, it's actually a bad thing if you're sitting down at a game...LOL

One thing to consider with the stadium noise that the design of the stadium, bowls have a tendency to let the noise escape up, VT’s stadium has a steeper rise which help to direct the noise to the field. That’s my understanding anyway.

I've been to 2 UT games in the student section and sat the majority of the game. They also sit at Tech/Baylor (if people show up at all).

I've also pissed on the midfield logo at TCU. Oh to be young again.

It's nice to see ND is aware of the problem and is trying to correct it. On the other hand I find it very sad they need to do anything at all.

doesn't matter whether it's sad or not that we're here. The point is that we're here and it's time to change it. I love the direction this is going, and I think it would be awesome if (as someone else mentioned) everyone printed the "StaND" things out and showed them to anyone who does otherwise. It's time to make it LOUD again!!!

I hope this gets brought up to Lou during their pre-game show. He's old, understands ND as well as anybody. I bet he's more 'stand and scream' than 'cater your noise to the most conservative of fans'.

Perfectly put. It's time to change the atmosphere and that's on every single one of us who attend the games. With ND's Take a Stand promo, i'm sure a memo has gone out to all of the ushers in regards to NOT tell any non belligerent fan to sit down.
I'm so excited the university is backing this., God bless Jack Swarbrick for implementing change. It is on all of us as fans who attend the game to get our sections up and going when we attend games. It's easy to only stand and create a loud atmosphere when the team is winning and things are going well. The players and coaches dictate what happens on the field, the crowd dictates the atmosphere. The atmosphere is on us 1000%. Take a StaND and make Notre Dame Stadium a place to be feared by the opposition. Stadium noise and positive support can make more of difference than you think. Go Irish

Excactly. That will send the "client entertaining" and socializing away.

Someone asked me to sit down at the Champs Sports Bowl, but I actually kind of deserved it -- everyone would be sitting, and if I thought a big play was going to happen I'd subconsciously stand up mid-play. I would have been annoyed too if I had been behind me.

Will be there on Saturday and I will for sure Stand and Cheer! Love that ND is promoting this to the fans for this season. Let's hope things are rowdy inside that stadium this weekend

It makes me sad knowing ND will never be like this. No way the blue hairs would ever stand up and participate in something like this.

Fans in Lane Stadium Go Crazy to Enter Sandman - End of Game: Miami vs. Virginia Tech - YouTube

Literally got chills watching that...I would give my right n*t to experience something like that at Notre Dame stadium! I feel all "rowdy" fans shouldn't be escorted out of the stadium...just to the student section. Since I'm not going to any home games til next season, I won't know anybody who is a student, but you better believe I'll be working my way over to that section!

In these situations I always compare it to soccer fans in Europe they not only stand for the entire game but sing songs and scream chants in syncranization throughout play and they have some of the most loyal passionate fans in any sport in any part of the world. Obviously I'm not suggesting chanting but I wouldn't dismiss the idea ha here needs to be more "fans" not just simple spectators.

The band also needs to change the way it leads the cheers. the cheer right before 3rd down (punching your arms like the leprechaun) makes no sense because it's a silent cheer. No words are shouted or sung during it, and I would think that the crowd should try to be as loud as possible on 3rd down.

I love that cheer by the way. Keenan represent. But it shouldn't be done on 3rd down.
