Hope you enjoy your time man. I'm out of the city right now but I think the weather has been decent for late October and the snow is gone. The local University plays a football game tonight vs Alberta that might be interesting for you to watch if you have warm clothes. We don't usually get big crowds but its a good time.


Also I don't understand how a guy from Montana can chirp Canada. Unless he was kidding

My experience is that there are at least two Montanas. The east is windy and barren, at least Mile City was.

Things start turning at Bozeman, but the Western Edge??????

Starts in Missoula, and the Grizz' home field is right up there with the stadium in Albuquerque and the old Sam Boyd in Vegas where you can sit in the South End zone and look at Sunrise Mountain.

Kalispell was great before it got Californicated.

But Flathead Lake is one of America's underappreciated treasures. It can go toe to toe with Lake Tahoe.

Just came back from first trip in 3 years. Trip went very smoothly and was everything we hoped for. Wife got sick the day we got home, me three days later. Both of us tested positive for COVID.

Dr says everybody's going to get it. It is "just a cold" now, at least for us.

So should you travel? A dilemma for sure.

another person died here in this retirement community just two weeks ago.
one of my best friends got a two week siege out of it at this same period with some permanent weaknesses.

still not a time to be a devil-take-the-hindmost risk-taker especially if you expose others while you're at it.
know who those others are.

Homer is a pretty cool place and some nice sights while driving there from Anchorage. Calvegas is right, it’s a huge state and some upfront planning will save you some time.

Chugach State Park is close to Anchorage as well……Denali is beautiful but is a few hour drive, be sure not to wear your salmon vest in the woods.

Right now we are planning on doing some hiking in Denali and we also have a full day fishing trip booked. We will be there for a week.

Did that about ten years ago. Awesome trip. Go anywhere there’s a road. Kenai and Denali are musts.
Bring bug spray they are like nothing you see in the lower 48

I just got back from three days in New York City and it was a pretty incredible experience. I’d never been, nor had my wife or two oldest daughters (8&6). We went to visit my sister-in-law who moved out there for grad school last year.

We stayed on Long Island where she lives on the first night and then stayed in lower Manhattan two nights. Did all the major touristy things, but it was awesome to be able to experience attractions that I’d only ever experienced via media. The 9/11 Memorial was by far the most impactful aspect of the trip, for me. It’s something everyone who was alive for that day needs to experience at some point. I’ve never felt such visceral emotions in a “museum.” We saw Aladdin on Broadway, and although seeing a Broadway play wasn’t anything from my bucket list, I’d highly recommend that experience.

It was a great trip. I’d like to go back and do Ellis Island more in-depth, but couldn’t have asked for a better three days.

Also, NYC traffic is no joke.

Since my kid is older now we are doing trips for Christmas. Looking to go to Chicago in early December. Looking for recommendations for things to do. I figure it will be snowy/very cold. Wife wants to do the Santa 5k/10k? Run.

Early December may not be too bad. November average is 50 and December is 37, so if it's early December it may not be too bad. The lake effect is what you need to worry about.

Magnificent Mile is fun. The museum of Science & Industry is a must.

I’m a White Sox fan, but it’s worth your while to go up and check out Wrigley and the area; even out of season. Same with Soldier Field. Shedd Aquarium is always solid. I enjoy the Field Museum. Water Tower Place and I’d check out both the Hancock Building and Sears/Willis Tower. At that point in the year, you should be able to ice skate at Millennium Park, also.
