No time to research, but does anyone have some stats to show NDs prime time road trip success under Kelly?

There's something off... We need an I/O psychologist, or someone, to come in and research bad habits that the team has, causing them to come out with low energy, and shell shock...

I also saw that Ryan Grooms posted an image of the team eating lunch at In and Out, because that's a healthy meal before a big game... I wonder if they got the extra large cokes with animal fries.

Pretty certain those weren’t players.

Don’t think it’s a big game on the road problem.

Think it’s a big game problem.

We punked USC at home. We fought against Georgia.

We embarrassed ourselves in Miami and Palo Alto.

There’s no way they ate there today. Even at that. It’s beef bread and potatoes. Oil salt and sauce. Sauce is a bit much but that’s not that bad for kids! Mind you that we have kids on our team still. We don’t accept judo transfers..... especially throughout the season

That IMO had much more to do with regression of the team as weeks went on rather than venue. Miami would have punked us at in SB too. The Stanford collapse could have very well happend in ND Stadium. It almost did last week.

There's absolutely a road problem no matter how anyone wants to spin it. In the last few years ND doesn't beat good teams on the road, ever.

That's bad.

BUT, there was a quick stat given during the ALA/AUB game. Something like Saban being 0-7 on the road versus top-10 SEC teams (including his LSU days.) That stunned me.

Think about that for a second. Arguably, the greatest CFB coach in history being 0-7 versus some segment of his competition. Granted, that's against the cream of the crop, but still...

Disagree about Miami. If they played us and it was cold and rainy? We win by 3 touchdowns.

Holy shit know what you're talking about. The team managers ate at In and Out...not the team.

My apologies. Grooms said they were "escorted" to in and out. Saw a bus. Didn't think the managers would split away from the team like that.

Regardless, the stats and struggles persist.

Saban’s solution is to minimize the number of these games played. NDs solution is to play as many as possible.

Wut? Saban plays LSU and Auburn every single year. We play FSU and Clemson two of three years.

The stat is Saban is 0-7 against Auburn teams that have/end the season with 9 or more wins, dating back to his LSU days.

Saban is literally on record saying the three most important things to winning football games are -- 1. play a manageable schedule 2. play a manageable schedule 3. play a manageable schedule.

He schedules three true cupcakes every year, strategically interspersed throughout the schedule. He always opens the year with one marquee team, then just plays a regular SEC West schedule which can be hard but as of late has not. He does not "travel" outside of week 1... just conference/local games.

Our 2018 schedule is so stupid hard it makes no earthly sense. 2019 isn't much better. Our administration is idiots. This isn't the late 80s/early 90s where the goal is to schedule every single hard team that you can and take the show coast to coast. I really think this is the area where Swarbrick has done the worst job... never should've put Michigan back on the schedule, never should've scheduled games with Georgia, etc.

Agree with this 99%. Caveat would be that, if you add Georgia or Michigan, you drop an equally difficult team (USC, FSU, Clemson, etc) and not a "cupcake". In years we play FSU and Clemson, we don't schedule Georgia, etc. In years our ACC play is easy, we schedule them.

IMO the "independent" is no longer workable.

In order to wrap up a playoff spot you have to have a crazy strong schedule and go 11-1.

The room for error is so small.

Other than "we have always been independent" I can't see any justification for it.

It's not like other elite schools are scrambling to be independent

I talk to a former ND player recently wont say who and asked him why ND has struggled on the road in prime time games. He said that he thinks the players get too tight for the game.

Maybe we should start considering this. We could use some more aggressive fighters on the field!

Saban may have to change his tune after this season. Only 1 loss has the Tide locked out of the SEC Title game and possibly the CFB playoffs and weak SOS is to blame. Whereas an 11-1 Notre Dame that didn't implode against Miami & Stanford would be in playoffs no question.
