Andy Dodd, LSU's second string Center, will take a grad transfer having completed his degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. As spring practice approaches, we are likely to see more attrition.

Now if he can just find a school that offers a Masters in Interdisciplinary Studies

I know its a joke, but the major has to be one the current school doesn't offer.

I think they should get rid of that requirement. I don't think it is slowing the number of kids who transfer. Why make him pick out some obscure program that his current school doesn't have.

At Ohio State, James Clark, WR, Tyler Gerald, OL, and Alex Stump, WR (to Vandy) are transferring. Clark will be a Grad Transfer, obtaining his degree in Finance. All were rated four star recruits. Clark and Stump had seven catches in 2016 between them. Gerald is the third backup OL to transfer from Ohio State this offseason.

Ohio State is at 87 scholarships, counting two special teamers. One was a walkon to scholarship last year. Another has been mentioned as a Grayshirt.

Dad of RB Kingston Davis says son will transfer from Michigan

Davis was in the Class of '16, #1 ranked FB, and carried the ball twice for 17 yards last year.

Does anyone know if Drake Johnson (RB) got his sixth year?
Tough career - Redshirted his freshman year ('12), tore his ACL in the 2013 opening game and sat out the season, returned in 2014 but tore his ACL again in the last game of the season (Ohio State), was run over by a forklift in April '16 (driver "felt a bump") and hamstring issues kept him from playing in '16.

Herman is holding "spring exit interviews" and has ten graduating Seniors in the Spring and took Kendall Moore, TE, as a grad transfer from Syracuse. Three of the six remaining, counting Moore, are freshmen with one of those facing felony drug charges and may lose his scholarship.

What recent attrition means for Texas football

Some of the departures have been rather standard — wide receiver Jake Oliver is moving on from football after spending four years in the program in order to pursue a career opportunity outside the game, while sophomore quarterback Matthew Merrick left the team this spring in order to focus on his academics.

Redshirt freshman tight end Peyton Aucoin also transferred after dealing with injuries.

In a flash, Texas lost two defensive linemen last week when the news broke that sophomore Jordan Elliott was transferring and redshirt freshman Marcel Southall had left the program.

Then, on Tuesday, multiple outlets reported that sophomore linebacker Erick Fowler had also left the program.

Due to the difficulties recruiting defensive linemen, the losses of Elliott and Southall were concerning in a vacuum.

Fowler struggled to qualify academically coming out of Manor and wasn’t cleared by the NCAA until midway through fall camp. As a result, he was behind his classmates when he got onto the practice field, though he also flashed on occasion in his limited playing time.

After several stints at middle linebacker, a position that did not seem to suit his edge-rushing talents, Fowler was a virtual non-factor on the depth chart upon the completion of spring practice.

However, Fowler was always a risk because of his academics — the definition of a boom-or-bust player. After less than a year in Austin, it appears that the former Rivals five-star prospect’s legacy in burnt orange and white is as a bust.

For Southall, the problems were similar. He struggled to qualify academically out of Duncanville, with his process playing out into the summer.

One perspective is that Strong and his staff clearly took calculated risks with Fowler and Southall, two extremely talented players who could have become valuable contributors had they taken care of business.

Another holds that Herman and his staff are conducting business much in the same way that Strong did upon arrival in Austin — pushing out malcontents who are having an overall detrimental effect on the program.

Still another posits that something is seriously wrong in Austin, that Herman and his coaches are alienating players in a way that is symptomatic of deeper issues that will ultimately result in more failures on fall Saturdays.

the Tennessee Qb who bolted for a 2nd time if i were the coach who was able to get him i would ask him to pledge his commitment because bolting and coming back makes his commitment look suspect

Sherrion Jones is down to Temple or FCS CalPoly back home. If he goes to Temple he has to sit out '17 and will have two years of eligibility left. If he goes to CalPoly or any other FCS he can play immediately and has 3 years.

There's always the chance to play a year of JUCO and then look around next year.

since this is about transfers
i think the ncaa should have a rule where coaches have NO right to veto kids transfers except if they are transferring to a team withing the time frame of player's elegibility left

Kansas State Wildcats' Bill Snyder defends decision to deny Corey Sutton scholarship release

Legendary and beloved Bill Snyder denied a potential transfer from a kid's entire 35-team(!) list of interested destinations, none of which are Big XII teams or future opponents.

The kid failed two drug tests, but was allowed to stay at K-State. It seems like Snyder is saying, "usually, he'd be kicked off the team, but we didn't kick him off, so he HAS to stay because he owes us the depth."

Snyder also made the argument that if you let every kid sitting at no.2 on the depth chart go somewhere else, that you wouldn't have much of a team left... as if every no.2 on his team is seeking transfer.

This is rich, coming from the old fart that has made his career on building a team from kids transferring INTO K-State.

Brice Ramsey’s return good for him, good for Georgia

As reported early Thursday afternoon, Ramsey has decided to return to the University of Georgia, or stay there, however one might like to frame it. The senior quarterback announced back at the beginning of spring semester that he was seeking a transfer via the NCAA’s graduate transfer rule. Three months later, he announced that he’s staying with the Bulldogs.
