This shit is cray. I'm in my bathroom with two dogs waiting it out. Last I saw on TV it was coming right at us on the NE side.

Warning called off for my area. Sounds like the most damage was down on the SW side by the Speedway and Airport.

Creepy stuff though when the sky is fairly clear one minute and pitch black the next.

Was it you last summer in the same situation? Posting from your bathroom during a warning? It's posts like this that allow me to appreciate the constant humid summers of the northeast and few severe storms here and there. Not sure how residents of mid-west and south deal with that type of stress and uncertainty.

Good luck and stay safe.

This is the first time I ever legitimately "found shelter" during a warning, so it couldn't have been me. The news hammed it up to the point I actually felt threatened, being on the second floor of an apt complex.

When I first moved to MN from FL in 1979 I thought the locals were wimps when it came to thunderstorms. They were a nearly everyday, late afternoon occurrence in an Orlando summer. I was blasé. Then a storm cropped up when I was in the rear of the backyard. In a matter of seconds I wasn't sure that I could negotiate the 80' feet to the house because of the wind.

A few years later a tornado took out trees, houses and commercial buildings a quarter mile away. Needless to say, I now have a healthy regard for warning sirens. I have a basement and know how to use it. The cats usually beat me to it.

Almost a year ago to the day a freak storm came through. No tornado but a severe wind in a narrow band. It took out my 70 year old, 70 foot tall Catalpa tree. No sirens, no nada on the local TV or weather stations. I figured something was awry when I saw a large branch of the tree sweep by my window, wind driven and where it shouldn't oughta have been.

Within a minute I heard a huge "crack" as the tree went down. It fell on a southwest angle taking out a corner of my roof and a portion of my neighbors' roof. Then there was the fence, the tree house I'd been building off and on for 20 years and the neighbors' Webber.

Had the tree fallen true east, I'd have been a pancake. Had the sirens sounded I'd have been in the basement with the cats. Probably tossing a load of laundry into the washing machine. Mine was one of about 3,000 trees taken down.

Bottom Line. My Point. Take this shit seriously. You got a basement – use it. Just make sure you have a radio and TV there so you can tune in to find out just what shit is headed your way.

I heard on the news no injuries were reported. Some houses were torn up, but that's it. Amen to that.

My wife works out toward Mt. Comfort and I'm on the south side. She sent me a text telling me about the tornado on the west side. It never did get too bad on the south side, but it did get ugly looking. You just never know.

Same storm system that rolled through the Denver area last night? A consultant I work with got in at a ridiculous time last night due to warnings at the airport. Had to take shelter in the bathrooms.

Rained pretty good at my house but that was about it. The pictures looked bad on the west side though.
