Just some thoughts...
1) Yes, Rees is one of the last (and probably the most important other than Elston) BK-hired coaches to leave
2) Yes, Bama not dead yet - Had #1 2023 class by a good clip over GA: 2023 Recruiting Rankings
3) I do like CWJr., but I'm not hearing as much about him post-FAU at his USF and current Ole Miss OC stops
4) And yes, this is an amazing opportunity for MFMF to put his stamp on the program with hiring the next guy for this all-too-important role that is crucial to ND winning another Natty
5) I think someone already mentioned him but how about Jim Svoboda (not a younger guy) who helped turnaround Tulane from 2-10 to 12-2 and beating USC in bowl game? Just not sure why the hell he was forced out (story alludes to that) after this magical year and replaced by the Tight Ends coach promoted to new OC? Jim Svoboda not returning to Tulane football staff after one year as offensive coordinator; otherwise, maybe someone upcoming?

Tommy hasn’t gone anywhere yet…

I really hope he sticks around at least for this season to see his first class become upperclassmen and breakout, we're primed for big things this year. On the other hand, he would probably be a fool not to take the Alabama job if he wants to better his career, it's the smart play. Hopefully his heart keeps him in South Bend one more year. Either way, whoever is coaching in '23 and '24 is setup for success.

Looks like Tommy will go the way of his mentor, Kelly. Lateral to an SEC school. No ill will towards either but I’m not upset they‘re gone. Hopefully we bring in an upgrade.
Does Freeman have ties to Tom Herman? I'd say the dust has settled for him. Granted he had some all world players, but is OSU offenses were legit.

I would hate to see this board if we had an actual bad OC at ND who was wanted by no one. Hopefully Rees stays but would be a defining hire in Freeman’s career.

I have never heard of Ryan Grubb before today, and never will again after today.

I’m truly perplexed why this dude wouldn’t go to Bama.

Saban would have called him names. With a last name like Grubb, you could get really creative.

I’m more concerned with the timing than losing Rees. He’s a slightly above average play caller and a below average recruiter. But maybe I’m a moron and Saban sees something I’m missing.

Not sure if mentioned, but MF needs to go absolutely nuclear if:

ND matches Bamas offer

TR accepts Bamas offer

ND doesn’t allow MF to use that same amount to lure and hire a replacement OC

I could 100% see some bullshit rug pull like this transpiring

Paul Chryst?
Gino Guidugli/ DMC combo?
Nick Sheridan/ DMC combo?
Warren?

Someone from left field?

As a UC fan, and someone who will always be nostalgic for the days of Gino tearing up CUSA...

please God no.

He's Mike Denbrock with 90% less experience. Hard pass.

Lol you don’t need to be a recruiter to be OC at Bama you think Bill O’Brien was going into recruits living rooms and winning over parents with his sparkling personality?

I think there’s a decent chance Rees stays, a lot to stick around for at least another year or 2. I hate to admit it, but Driscoll had a pretty good argument for staying on his podcast today.
