IMHO.......bring in Don Criqui and have either Jerome Bettis or Joe Theisman do color. I want ND homers all the way around!

Unfortunately I agree. I think every IE member should e-mail NBC after EVERY HOME GAME and complain about Hammond. It’s obvious they think he is doing a good job because there is no other rational explanation as to why this poor excuse for a commentator is still allowed to weird us out every ND home broadcast.

This. As a long-time Bengals fan, I had to suffer through Don Criqui and Steve Tasker -called games each week in the fall. It tells you what CBS thought of him -- he was relegated to calling Bengals games each week when they were absolutely terrible. I think he really started to resent the Bengals over the years...

I'm not sure if this has been brought up, but why didn't Hammond call the Spring Game? The guy they had seemed good... I was hoping it was a sign of the changing of the guard.

every time i click on this thread i am hoping it says Tom Hammond has resigned as play by play guy. so thanks for everyone who keeps getting my hopes up.

Agree/Agree but NBC will not change this as it seems to me its their way of flexing their muscles and telling Notre Dame its our call. We all know the guy is not a match and he adheres to NBC policy of not making it a 'homer' type atmosphere. Mayock shows more excitment and to have a Notre Dame type guy in Hammonds spot would be bliss but with NBC it aint happening-so I listen to the game on radio like many other people and watch a delayed telecast. Of course it sucks and gone are the days of someone who actually cares about Notre Dame. I dont make fun of the guy anymore-its not right and its like making fun of a moron or a autistic person etc.

My favorite play by play is still Brent Musburger... I know he's getting a little old. But something about his voice creates this feel that something legendary is about to happen.

Why? He works for NBCSports now and calls all their NFL games. Would make perfect sense for NBC to assign their best play-by-play guy to one of its most valuable sports properties.
