It'll be fun to have sporting events to watch over the next month, but I wouldn't expect much pomp and circumstance. Japan is going to be going through the motions on this and cutting as many corners as possible. Their citizens don't want the Olympics there, their businesses don't want the Olympics there, and their politicians don't want the Olympics there.

Sucks because I think Tokyo 2020 would've been an amazing event if not for the virus. From all accounts Japan was extremely excited during the 2019 gear-up.

I heard some commentator claiming the beds were designed to only support one person purposefully to discourage boinking. 200kg (expected) limit - pair up accordingly athletes.

And - Arike snub was BS.

Honestly I feel like they should just do the summer Olympics in Athens every 4 years. For winter Olympics, could mix it up a bit or maybe just give it to the Swiss or Austrians. There is no need for the corruption or wasted money to have it anywhere else.

Athens would be dope. Selfishly I think Vancouver would be a good option for a consistent (every 16 years) Olympics pic, keeps it in a manageable time zone for us NA folk.

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing winter games held in a 3 city rotation between North America, Europe, and Asia.

Women's 100M butterfly semis were suppose to be on 9:45 on Saturday night. Local HS kid was swimming - the high school having a watch party at the football stadium. NBC only shows the times (she did not advance, almost a second slower than her prelim time). Shut up with all the commentary and show more events you knobs. Someone commented they should run like NFL red zone on on of the dozen channels they are running on. Jump in on close events, upsets and just live action as it is happening.

I do like watching Phelps comment on swimming - can't hide his excitement on the live stuff.

I’d maybe have sympathy for her if she didn’t spend a month cutting promos with an actual goat and saying that she “didn’t know if she could possibly be beat.”

USA Gymnastics is a garbage organization and Biles is a victim in that regard, but I can’t imagine quitting on your team like this.

That's good. But there is still one girl who'd otherwise be an alternate who could say "I got to go to the Olympics" who's at home and would probably give anything.
