Richt actually runs a pretty tight ship compared to his SEC brethren.

Tied for most arrests with Florida.....
Richt put on a good "family man" show, but he's no saint.
I will say I like him more than most others, but tight ship it is not.

Damn...for UGA to suspend their best player must be something really bad. The schadenfreude is immense. F**k UGA.

No matter how many arrests, dismissals, suspensions, etc. UGA racks up every year it appears the myth of "Mark Richt: Saintly coach who does it the right way" will never die. That legend has kept him employed in Athens no matter how many choke jobs he commits. If you check the stats I'm willing to bet Richt's UGA teams rival Urban's Florida teams in all standard SEC metrics: felonies, arrests, dismissals, suspensions, etc.

Jay Bilas is my favorite.

Jay Bilas, obviously, sees no value in a free education.

Where the kids choose to get that education from is up to them.

I don't think there is anything particualary unsavory about selling your autograph; however, it'd be tough to lcompete in a world where Texas boosters could pay $25,000 grand for your signed socks after each game.

Well, I know it is embarrassing for him, but all this does is make sure he does not get injured the rest of this season. He will still be a top 10-15 pick in the draft and make millions. Hurts Georgia a bit, but it is not like they are lacking at RB even without Gurley.

No this kills Georgia. You're right they have a nice stable but Gurley was their team.

Don't know how reliable this is but its being passed around.

Gurley is a monster, but if anyone is in position to lose their superstar back and still run all over teams it's UGA.

That's a shame for Gurley. Yes, he knew the rules but it's tragic that they aren't allowed to capitalize on their own name in college. He wasn't peddling drugs or punching women.

That's funny. I know he should be able to profit off his Name but the Rules are the fucking rules.. follow them.

I don't want this to come off too strong, but: He, like someone said earlier, is a top 10-15 player if he leaves this year. He will be getting paid in months if he so chooses. This is another example of blatant disregard for rules, entitlement, and instant gratification. I like Gurley a lot, seems like a really nice kid and he is IMO the best back I have seen since AP. But those characteristics that I listed above are the cause of a lot of issues with athletes today and us minimizing it or arguing against the importance of the rule is exactly why these guys constantly break them. I am proud of the University of Georgia and Coach Richt. He is no Jimbo, making excuses about what a great kid he is, I mean it is possible to be a good kid and commit a punishable offense.

How would this sound? " Golson come to ND and I'll give you 50k for your autograph!"
