Navy blue looks black until you place it next to black.

This is true in the mornings I have to put two pairs of slacks next to each other to tell the difference. Also Navy blue looks black until you put it in the sun or light source

When Jerseys become Wet, or saturated in rain, or sweat...they appear darker. EX- Our pants Vs USC last year. The gloss of the jersey also can impact how "blue" they look.

I also have a pet peeve with the yellow vs. gold debate.

Our helmets are gold.

Michigan wears yellow.

Somebody's gonna come on here and say "Michigan wears maize!" No they don't, they wear yellow.

I hate when people call yellow....gold.

For example, when people call the Boston Bruins the black and gold......they wear YELLOW!!!

Poor yellow.

Not sure what your comment, navy blue is navy blue means Neutered. I was trying to point out that we've never worn what most people would consider to be proper navy blue. So I ask you, what is navy blue?

1968a.jpg

The two Florida Gators standing next to each other have what I would consider a royal blue jersey.

Penn State's Ted Kwalick is sitting right next to our own George Kunz on the bottom right. That Penn State jersey if it was just a little darker is what I think of with navy blue.

As you can see, we wear one dark *** navy blue jersey.

Navy blue is exactly Navy blue. Not much to see here or discuss. No such thing as light or dark Navy blue. Those colors have their own name, and Lord knows there are thousands of names now. My favorite color on cars is Midnight Metallic Blue. Navy blue with a sparkle.

The Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby.

Put that in your Tom Wolfe and smoke it!

Neutered: I had a Pea Coat in college. It was part of the high school graduation present my parents gave me. It was "wrapped" inside a foot locker, along with a suitcase, dopp kit and an alarm clock. I still use the clock.

The Pea Coat came in handy when I was hitch hiking from Philadelphia to Annapolis in 1970. I'd arranged for a ride from South Bend to Philly for the ND – Navy game. I had a high school friend at the Naval Academy I wanted to visit who had gotten a ticket for me.

My hair was still short from the hair cut my mother demanded I get before heading off to college. With my Pea Coat, short hair and holding a sign that simply said "Navy" I got a number of rides from folks who thought I was a Middie.

Most chuckled when I told them the truth and were happy to give me a ride. One guy, though, pulled over and dropped me off in the middle of nowhere.

Where were we?

Oh ... the coat was clearly navy blue and not black, even on an overcast, rainy and cold day on the highway.

What's a dopp kit?

Clearly you're not quite as old as I. It's that little bag that you use to hold your razor, shaving cream, deodorant, tooth brush, tooth paste, acne cream, etc. when traveling.

Do you prefer "toiletry bag?"

Google it!

OK. Thanks. Just wondered. Have heard it called a "ditty bag." But, you are right, I'm not quite as old as you, but gaining fast.

"The guy" is my son! And (I'll be damned) his shirt sure looks to be the color of "The Shirt!"

Apparently he was a couple of years ahead of the curve.

I also just noticed that the stone in my ND class ring is the same exact color as the shirt.

Just received mine. It's not nearly as bright as what's shown on the web site.

This one's a keeper.

I previously posted that I thought the light blue color was something that is to come in the Fall for the jerseys that were said to "be something that even Oregon hasn't touched on".

You guys think it could be?

I threw it out there earlier in the thread too. I'm probably way in the minority here, but I would be all for it. One game only.

I love The Shirt, but I have a real problem with this idea of one-upping Oregon.

I have talked a lot of **** here about their frigging pajama parties they call football games, I would hate to have this thrown in my face.

We've always worn a dark navy blue, but the current uniforms have taken it an extreme. You should be able to distinguish between the black and navy blue, but you can't anymore.

Opposite on your blues there

This is navy, kinda like the blue stripe on this site:Google Image Result for http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vCjfMFMXqjw/TVhWbDEZJoI/AAAAAAAAA6w/buFWRQeOtvg/s1600/navy+blue+silk.jpg

and this is royal Google Image Result for http://www.cheappoolproducts.com/images/supplies/royalblue.gif

Madonna blue is more of a pale royal. Google Image Result for http://www.art-paints.com/Paints/Ceramic/Muralo/Madonna-Blue/Madonna-Blue-lg.jpg

We all know it's just a t-shirt right?

No. It can also be used for sexy lingerie on your lady. An emergency diaper. Oversize it and put a belt on it and it is a sexy dress for a pretty lady. Window curtains. Quilt. Foot warmer. Things like that...

Zing, really?

What's wrong with "boom?"

If a guy punched me in the face, and said, "Zing, " I would laugh.

If a guy punched me in the face, and said, "Boom," I would be less likely to engage.

Nonetheless, I am ****ing engaging.

Anyways... The shirt: It's ****ing ugly. Fugly. That was mentioned.

That characterizes the shirt: FUGLY!

God I'm pissed.
