Navy is also power rated near Maryland. Our schedule is equivalent to if we drew every bottom B1G team Wisconsin on down + IU, Washington and Penn State and then scheduled a cupcake non-con.

A schedule that exists in conference play basically annually in 3 of the 4 conferences.

There it is. The reason Bevacqua has no choice but to push for expansion. Pathetic.

Can we get senate to ban decision making ability to coaches/ADs mad how the last season ended?

The Whiny Poopy Pants can’t change schedules Bill

I've been able to overlook the weakness of the 2026 and 2027 schedules by looking at the strength of the 2028 and 2029 schedules. The crown jewel of the latter is the home and home with Texas. If UT backs out, I think the need to join the SEC/B10 increases meaningfully.

I’m also worried about the Florida series and Alabama. There’s so much changing in the game.

There was a piece in The Athletic last week about why Fox is driving the 24-team playoff. A big reason is that Big 10 TV inventory is relatively weak. Especially in September when they mostly line up creampuff nonconference games. (Leaving aside that no one wants to watch Rutgers-Minnesota and UCLA-Purdue either). But of course the bigger the conference and the bigger the playoff the less incentive to schedule good nonconference games.
It's all one big circle jerk of stupid that's ruining the sport.

The SEC is full of themselves as always, but in this case they're not wrong.
The Big 12 is a joke - look at Texas Tech's schedule this year! - and the ACC not much better. Going 10-2 in those conferences, especially without big nonconference games, should be basically disqualifying. Even the Big 10 is so lopsided you can put together a playoff-worthy record without playing more than one or two better-than-average teams.

I think the SEC is very wrong and I think it takes an incredible amount of hubris for the AD to say what he said without blushing. The SEC has been getting pummeled in the playoffs. Now that everyone can pay, they have lost their stronghold and their once esteemed conference shows poorly when there are cross-conference games.

Their schedules are strong at the top, with 3-4 teams being in the top 15. But the BIG 10 can make the same claim. ACC has 2 usually, BIG12 1-2.

But sometimes their 3rd and 4th best teams are actually shit. Like Alabama last year.

I just can’t imagine the networks let Texas cancel this, feels like they are just playing a leverage game to expand the playoff.

Hmmm ... I don't know how I should feel about this. Texas Tech seems to be marshalling a lot of money for recruiting. That should translate into a lot of winning especially in the Big 12. I think that TTech would be a good opponent to schedule for us if the SEC zero's out and the B1G sort of does. Beating the Big 12 champs sounds like a good thing on a resume; also beating the ACC champs does too. I therefore welcome this guy's "offer".
