Big games 1 for Dodgers and Yankees. They need to start out with wins at home v. 2 pretty hot teams. Interested to see how KC looks in particular. Fully expect SD to bring it with LA.
Agreed. Most picking the Padres to roll the Dodgers. I think it comes down mostly to SD having the pitching advantage (even w/ the loss of Musgrove). Hitting will play a huge part too and the Padres lineup seems hot at the right time whereas the Dodgers can pile up K’s quickly and are horrible at producing runs via sacrifice & moving runners. Ohtani is likely the only hitter they can count on for consistency but if Betts is struggling, SD will just pitch around Ohtani. They better bring their sticks or they’ll get swept. Roberts is great guy, a players’ coach & has turned in a lot of regular season success but questions will remain about his handling of the bullpen & lineup if Dodgers fail to get to the WS.

Rodon pitched like a Single A pitcher last night. KC's Zerpa was dialed in. Series 1-1.

Wow! I didn’t see that coming. I thought it would come down to them & the Padres. Credit to the Mets but I don’t think they can advance past the Padres so hope they enjoyed tonight!
Nobody did. Trying to recreate the '69 Miracle Mets.

Stanton was on fire for the Pinstripes. Lead KC 2-1.

I wouldn’t compare those two squads. The ‘69 Mets were pre-free agency & there’s not one HOFer on the roster who is a position player. They won with their pitching which did include two HOFers & one damn good starter. Seaver & Koosman were money on the bump as starters & their bully was long as well w/ a young Nolan Ryan giving glimpses of his future dominance.

I could be wrong, but I get the vibe that Costas wants to be remembered & romanticized in the same fashion that fans do w/ Vin Scully, Red Barber, Mel Allen, Ernie Harwell, Jack Buck, etc. Problem is he left baseball behind for the big network events whether it was NBA, NFL or Olympics. No issue with that as you can build a legacy in those realms as well but do risk the threat of getting diluted when you’re everywhere but not known for a particular sport. Again, kudos to him for earning those gigs. Now later in career he’s circling back to baseball but he’s lost his fastball (pun intended) & should probably consider something else or he’ll be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

Another year as a Cleveland fan...
What an absolute clutch at bat for Fry who almost went for the golden sombrero two nights ago.
All or nothing game on Saturday. Heading to Cleveland to watch with my parents and brother on Saturday along with ND game.

BTW, Kwan has been magic in this series.

Go Guardians! :baseball:

Cole pitched a solid game. Thought Boone was going to pull a Boone and leave him in too long. Pinstripes advance!

I'll be at Dodger Stadium tonight cheering on the Dodgers in game 5. It's not going to be easy for the boys in blue though. Padres are a very good team and Yu Darvish always pitches well against them. Darvish's name alone makes me cringe anytime I hear it. I was at Dodger Stadium for the World Series game 7 in 2017 vs the Astros when Darvish put the Dodgers in a 5-0 hole in the second inning. I want the Dodgers to beat him so bad tonight!

Same. I got to see LA host Pirates when Skenes was on the bump. Then caught them in StL which is a phenomenal baseball town & the last week of the season caught them in Colorado. Coors Field is my new favorite.

I don’t expect Dodgers to win b/c like you said SD is just a damn good team. Props to AJ Preller. LA doesn’t even have a starter they can announce. I wouldn’t expect the bullpen game philosophy to work two games in a row.

Maybe I am a sucker for the hype being in the NYC metro area, but this has been the most fun postseason so far as a casual baseball fan I can remember in some time.

Good so see the dodgers win. Screw Manny and the Padres!

But ole Hernandez has problem. He tries to grab or hit the 3rd base coach in that nuts and the dick bumps Lux. What a very weird turn of event a that was.

Had money on SD but shit happens. When did Kopech start pumping 102? He wasn’t throwing that in Chicago, was he?

He’s been shut down since coming over to LA. Heater ranges from high 90s to occasional triple digits. I’d say 97-99 is the average but just speaking anecdotally from watching a ton of games.

Rarely but he hit triple digits a handful of times if I recall. In 2021 or 2022 he was really good out of the pen for the Sox and had stretches where he looked dominant. I'm not surprised at all he's pitching well for them.
