Replay in baseball is so freaking terrible... look I’m not a homer fan in that if a call should go against the Irish, Halos or whoever I often state so... But the Halos have been raped by the umps this series, three replays in critical innings go against us and myself, the crowd, even the usually unbiased and composed Victor Rojas are having a fit because a CLEAR, EASY replay goes against us. Wtf

Trout is a beast. I want the Angels to do well for him. I hated watching Griffey toil away in Seattle/Cincy and never win a championship.

Great comparison. I always watched Griffey and thought he was such a finesse player - he never looked like a guy who would hit 40+ bombs in a year. Trout looks like a LB and like he could hit 50+ homers every year and sacrifice his average to .260. They're both amazing players and hopefully Trout has the longevity that Griffey had. He probably needs to take more days off at 27-29 years so he can stretch his career comfortably into his age 36-39 seasons.

I don't know if that's all fair though... they've been struck by the injury bug pretty hard four plus years running now, it's been sad and ye predictable at this point. This is from their current depth chart just right now:

Unavailable
K. Cowart 10-day DL
Z. Cozart 10-day DL
J. Johnson 10-day DL
J. Marte 10-day DL
S. Ohtani 10-day DL
G. Richards 10-day DL
R. Rivera 10-day DL
N. Tropeano 10-day DL
A. Meyer 60-day DL
K. Middleton 60-day DL
J. Ramirez 60-day DL
M. Shoemaker 60-day DL
J. Ramirez: out for rest of 2018 season (TJ surgery)
A. Meyer: expected to miss all of 2018 (shoulder surgery)

*note Simba, our best player not named Trout, just came off the DL as did Calhoun... it's deflating as fuck.

As a die hard Halo fan, unfortunately this has been par for the course. Even still they just missed the playoffs last year, missed it by one game three years ago and finished with the best record in baseball four years ago before pitching injuries derailed our postseason. 2015 has really been the only season where it's fair to say 'wasted' even then the team was riddled with injuries.

and we just placed two more pitchers on the DL and Cozart is done for the year.... yeah... fun times...

Braves busted out the brooms against the Cardinals. They now sit a half game up on the Brewers for the best record in the NL. They currently sit on pace for a 94 win season. What could unravel the season or be their demise if they make the playoffs is the bullpen. Huge liability.

The bullpen is not very good. But to be fair the starters don’t help them on going 5 or 6 innings due to high pitch counts. We need to lower the walks too. That’s starters and bullpen.

Thank god for NY's little league park. Acuna was able to hit a pop up home run for the game winner. The bullpen acquitted themselves quite nicely tonight. 5 shut out innings.

In four or five years, remember how historically bad the Royals were. They are continuing a major league record of games in which they score five or fewer runs and nine or less hits - 24 and counting. (Previous record was 22 by both the '65 (KC) A's (59-103) and the 1964 (Houston) Colt 45s (64-98). At this pace, the Royals are projected to have 57 wins, 105 losses.

Only five teams in MLB history have scored less runs in a month than the Royals did in June - ave 2.23 runs per game (26 games).

The offense has been poor all season, but in June, the Royals took it to a new low, hitting .193/.253/.303 in the month. Three pitchers with at least 50 plate appearances last year hit better than that.

And now Skaggs on the DL..... that’s every one of our mlb and AAA starters except Heaney on the DL if you count Ohtani who can’t pitch.

A week ago the Braves were set to be the first team in the NL to hit the 50 win mark and were 3 games in front of Philly in the division. A 4 game losing streak later and they are now tied for first with Philthy and were the 3rd team to reach 50 wins.

With the trade deadline with eyesight, who would your team trade for? Any position, any trade team partner.

KC is a seller, mostly infielders (including catcher)
Mike Moustakas, 3rd Base
Whit Merrifield, 2nd Base
Sal Perez, C
Lucas Duda, 1st Base
Alex Gordon, OF

Their starters have ERAs over 5 to 7. Their relief pitchers now minus Herrera are awful. (Their backup catcher pitched in relief against Boston two nights ago.) One outfielder just returned from an 80 day suspension for PEDs. Another loses significant time each year due to injuries. Their SS is the second worst batter in the AL. Their best starting pitcher in Ws, WHIP and Ks as well as second in ERA just went onto the disabled list. Another SP (2-11, ERA of 6.16) was just sent to the bullpen. The Royals have three experienced starting pitchers now. They recently started a pitcher recalled from AAA who had a 5.75 ERA there.

The Cubs don't have the pieces necessary to make it happen, but I'd love to see them go after DeGrom. Hendricks, Quintana, and especially Chatwalk have been very disappointing this season. Darvish, so far, has been a flop as well. It's a miracle this team is 14 games over .500 with only one consistent starter.

2018 is the year of bad, expensive teams

Orioles slugger Chris Davis is in the midst of a historically bad season

MLB Batting Stats, 2018 - Sortable by WAR (Winnings Above Replacement)
Worst?
1. Alcides Escobar, KC -- WAR -1.9 (320 ABs)
2. Victor Martinez, Det -- WAR -1.4 (292 ABs)
3. Dexter Fowler, St.L -- WAR -1.4 (230 ABs)

MLB Player Pitching Stats - 2018 (Sortable by ERA)
By highest ERAs, KC's four starting pitchers are in the top seven in the AL.

Theres a reason a bar in Baltimore has been paying people tabs if they are drinking in there during a game Chris Davis gets a base hit.

Freeman is a very good hitter however the home run derby was not worth him getting involved.
