I've been dying to know about this for months now! Does anybody have any clue as to when this story may break? Word was that it would be in August. Well, I'm anxious!

August 31st. Just keep checking in to Yahoo. The head writer still needs more money to help with the renovation on his house.

It's going to come out right before the season starts when ESPN and other outlets focus on college football primarily to get the most play.

Smart move, but I really want to know.

I heard in Atlanta (680 the fan) the story is about a SEC west school not named Arkansas or Ole Miss. Rumor down here (talk radio) is that it is LSU and the Patrick Peterson recruiting. Again...JUST A RUMOR!

It's funny, I am sitting in the middle of SEC country and everyone just assumes it's Auburn with an outside chance it's Bama.

Not to bust chops or anything, but if he doesn't have "inside info" how is it relevant that he works at Yahoo? How does that qualify his opinion?

Sorry, but

Sorry, but

What's the significance of the "10" in the "10" story? I understand that its got to do with some sort of payola scheme in recruiting, but what sets this apart from the other stories we hear about?

This what we're all so anxious to learn. Hints of the story have been all over the airwaves, but nobody knows who it is and to what extent. The "10" means that the OSU scandal was only an 8, and this upcoming story is a 10 on a scale from 1-10. The "8" and "10" ranking isn't from me or others on this site. It's what writers/talk show guys who know about the story have ranked them.

Specualtion is fun sometimes. I think it's Bama. However, I also live in Knoxville so everyone and their mothers are pointing to Alabama. Clay Travis from Outkickthecoverage.com seems to think it's Bama and continues to hint towards new information. Time will tell....

So the only details that we know is that the writer is going to release the story on Yahoo? Things like this make me look up into the sky and say "Thank God for the University of Notre Dame"

Could it be where the "d" word is used, as in the death penality?

Doubtful. Just because the NCAA tried that once with SMU and it was a disaster; not to mention, probably a little too extreme. Plus, the NCAA is smart enough to recognize some of these programs are cash cows for them, so eliminating a program of a USC, ND, OSU, Texas, Alabama nature would put a major effect on their bottom line-- if nothing else, as to the trickle down effect losing a program of that prestige would have on its conference mates/rivals.

The way I understand it supposedly the program is big time and not expected.
If OSU is an 8 and they are a big time program. Find a team on par with OSU where cheating isn't expected and we may have a lead.

Oxymoron.

Only schools worthy of "10" label IMO:

Notre Dame
Alabama
Michigan
U$C
Texas
Oklahoma
Ohio State
Nebraska
Penn State

Honestly, the only 10's out there, in my opinion are:

ND- but let's be honest, we've been kind of irrelevant for a while
Florida- pertaining to Tebow and Meyer
Auburn- pertaining to Scam and his season and their NC last year
Texas- Mack
USC- if there were to be a further scandal
OSU- if there were to be a further scandal
Alabama- Saban
LSU- but this would have to go back to the Saban days and continue forward
OU- Stoops

Anything else (Michigan, Penn St, Nebraska, FSU, or ____), in my opinion, would be a juicy story, but not a 10 relevant to OSU's 8.

Are you telling me that Joe Pa giving recruits free denture cream (or stacks of Benjamins) wouldn't be a 10?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was both schools from the state of Alabama. That certainly would quantify as a ten to Ohio State's eight. Needless to say I'm very excited for this to break so the dirt can come out, and I can bathe in the tears of other college football fans...

That could possibly make the list, but in my opinion, no- it would not.

Look, I've never heard anybody say they don't like Joe Pa. I like the guy a lot and I think he's been a great man, coach, and ambassador to college football and PSU. However, the guy has become kind of a caricature of himself. Most people I know (that aren't PSU fans) wish he would just retire. It's kind of painful and sad watching him try to hang on. Exhibit A is what happened with him the other day. I actually think that if some sort of scandal broke with Joe Pa, a lot of people would almost feel a sense of relief that the guy could and would finally step down, as opposed to feeling like some huge scandal was just unearthed. And again, being honest here, PSU has been largely irrelevant the last 15 years or so. So I wouldn't put it on par with those others I mentioned.

I would LOVE it if this were the case! Alabama + Auburn=10 for sure!

It's Tulane.

They rode the green wave of excess for far too long.

I know there was a lot of talk about them getting the death penalty, from people familiar with the infractions and climate of the SEC and NCAA then. And I know there were definitely those out there that felt they should. I think 2 things prevented it though-- 1) it was Alabama, a flagship program of the NCAA and 2) the SMU case study from the relatively recent past.

That was my exact thought.

Florida and Florida St need to be added to that list.

Didn't put Florida or FSU simply because I don't think a scandal at either school would be all that shocking to anyone. Both have already been linked to improprieties before, and neither is a "blue blood" CFB program.

Penn State is on my list simply because a huge scandal under JoePa's watch (not something piddly like player arrests) would completely smear his proud legacy as CFB's ambassador.
