Can Goodman fill a need at spring ball QB
Despite the tangents posted here the question was "Can Goodman fill a need at spring ball QB?" The answer is, "Yes!"
There is no healthy scholarship QB on the team.
Crist is rehabbing and expected to participate to some degree but not the usual level of participation for QB. Meanwhile the entire ND offense including QB, RBs, WRs, and OLine have to learn a new brand new offensive system. Goodman and/or Banks make more sense than either walkon or Rees. Goodman and Banks have both been exposed to Div 1 speed for a season or more. Goodman took snaps at QB in practice last season and played QB in the Wildcat in prime time. Rees will still be finding his way around campus.
Let's wait for Hendrix in August. OK may he can catch up quickly. Powlus had back in '93 until he broke a collarbone. Hmmm, perhaps Crist might not be 100% come game time. I'd rather have somebody with talent practicing with the team in the Spring so at least the rest of them will be ready and IF we don't have a 4 Star QB ready at least we have somebody ready.
From some of the posts here you'd think it was proposed to shift Hafis Williams to QB for the Spring. Keep in mind, that Ft Wayne article was about the "possibility" of an in-state kid who was a HS QB getting some snaps in the Spring. A premise they took from a South Bend article. A premise any fan realistically should have considered.
There's a reason for contingency planning.
