I am as liberal as they come but you can't group Nazi's together with main stream conservatives just because they vote for the same candidates. That would be like grouping me together with ALF(Animal liberation front) or Peta.

But if you both like pepsi....then you can.

He doesn't see the problem with his own argument.

Wait for this.... Guess, what I can group anything together that I want. It is America. If people do not like it then that is fine.

I knew it irishfanjho15, there was a reason we got along so well. I carry too, but I avoid places and times with my weapon because of my schedule. But when I carry it isn't a semi-automatic assualt rifle, (though I own one.) It is a seven round .357 Magnum. How about you? Do you carry a good defensive weapon, or one designed to inflict as much damage to as many as possible?

I adhere to a strict doctrine of defense. I don't use guns to make my case, just to defend those in need. Defense being the key word. But most of the popultation isn't like us. They think guns and shooting solves problems.

Glock 23, 40 cal. 13+1, with an extra mag. Always wear an IWB holster. I never want anyone to know I'm carrying in public because a handgun versus an active shooter's semi-auto rifle isn't the best odds but if I'm able to get to cover and/or concealment I can at least make an effort.

Just because you can do it does not make it right. It makes you seem as if you are narrow minded thinker. Which I am not saying you are overall but on this subject you appear to be.

Of course you can. And you're free to be dead-a$$ wrong, as you are in this case. And we're free to call you out on it.

Now we're getting to the point that you actually know you're wrong, so you're trying to find that ace up your sleave....

My name's Pit, and your a$$ ain't diggin out.

Sure, it also does not make it wrong. It makes it one persons opinion. Not sure what is narrow minded about it. Just because it is not what some people on this board agree with does not make it narrow minded.

I say it narrow minded because it sounds like something I would hear on Air America Radio(May it RIP). Not looking at it from another prospective.

Look I really didn't mean to get in this discussion, I wanted to say my 0.02 and hopefully move on. You're welcome to your opinion but I view it as being wrong.

I will continue on and look at the boob pictures that are making this thread bearable.

The assumption here is that the Nazi party represents the far right the way the Communist parties represent the far left… it’s just not true. They are not perfect opposites of each other. I am very aware that some text books, written by the left wing agenda driven Howard Zinn’s of the world, make the case that Nazism is all exclusively right wing. I would say ND95 has read far too many of these as he connected a hate crime immediately with the right… just as media outlets of the same political ideology often do. Should we have a discussion on how the Unibomber and Oswald were both seen as leftists or how Timothy McVeigh was viewed to have come from the right??? Do we want to begin comparing death tolls of the far left and far right, even IF we place the Nazis on the right? Give me a break.

Back to my original point, we can site Wikipedia, Howard Zinn and the Huffington Post all we want… The Nazi party was a crazy odd ball mix of left and right,… some right wing militarism, nationalism and some leftist policies that lead to a massive centralized government. Hitler did in fact dislike Communism as he saw it as a “Jewish Thing”. He wrote openly about this. So of course when those of his time tried to fit his peps into a box, the opposite of Communism is what they cited. I will say this clearly, nowhere in the Rebuplican ideology does it say "Hate Jews". Hitler was driven first and foremost by this and that created a very odd thing, the Nazi party. While in power the Nazis were anti-capitalist, anti-communist, and very anti personal liberties and very pro big gov. … some of that is left, some of that is right some of that is just wrong and not representative of either… at all … the Nazis were very much an odd political anomaly in my opinion.

Do some skinheads and nutbags in this country now use all of this and vote Republican...? no question. It takes all kinds.

Also, the KKK has a much deeper ties to the Democrats than the Republicans... should we all smash liberals over that and make the same insulting implications about the left??? This is just pathetic.

Good post ACamp.

The Nazi party in Germany was created as a "catch all" party that would apeal to a wide swath of folks who were experiencing the worst economic depression in this history of the world all while having to pay unprecidented war reparations following WWII. The actual name of the party is the National Socialist German Workers Party, which appealed to those who felt a strong sense of nationalism as well as socialists who hoped the government would provide some relief from the crushing poverty they were facing. Although a large number of Germans were out of work, they appealed to citizens as "workers," embedding an appeal to their sense of pride. Hitler was a carismatic speaker who appealed to a desperate population who was willing to listen to his rhetoric because he also made bold promises about the future. Incidently, he delivered on most of those promises and brought Germany out of the depression. He was neither a left or right winger. He was a shameless opportunist who understood the power of marketing.

Oh, actual quote from Hitler:

"I am a Socialist, and a very different kind of Socialist from your rich friend, Count Reventlow. . . . What you understand by Socialism is nothing more than Marxism."

So it's not cut and dry

You are right in that it is very complex. Initially, Hitler allowed the socialist term to be used in the party's name so he could gather the general German population under his banner and in his own terms, socialism was limited to mean "for the people", not what we think of today as socialism, but in the latter 1930's he absolutely needed the backing of the industries and elite populists and quickly abandoned the pro-social aspect as he went to crushlabor unions and outlawed strikes and mass worker gatherings.....hardly a socialist thing to do. I would not call him a socialist of the worst kind. He was not by any means. He was a totaltiarian, anti-semetic, nationaist fascist identified as the "Nazi party leader". The National Socialist Workers Party were not socialists.

German politics betwen the beginning of WWI and the end of WWII is completely fascinating. How Hitler rose to power in the first place is incredible.

He also did a great job at getting his people to kill Jews.

Damn right wing bastard.

Adolph Bush.

So that's why conservatives try to protect Israel!

To kill more Jews!

And I think you have some great insight on this subject. You're right, he wasn't "traditional" socialist.....but he used it to get what he wanted. And you could say that he still showed elements of it (his hatred of corporations and commerce) even during his nazi reign.

You could say that alone shows what socialism leads too...a dictatorship

You're right. It is an incredible story. Very complex.

Sorry again bro. Many countries in Europe are dominated by socialist parties that are democratically elected. They are not dictatorships and do not necessarily lead to dictatorships. There are many versions of socialism too. Current socialist countries use capitalistic processes to boot, more so than communistic.

No, I meant that at the time he was doing all this. He used the "for the people" cries to cover his plan. Of course now you can say that socialism and communism are actually trending more towards the middle...they have too on the economic front too keep up. I would still say that socialism, inevitibly leads to a dictatorship (even now, but at a much slower clip...I think we'll see it). Because, like Europe now, the system crashes. Plain and simple? A system that relies too heavily on the productive, but is heavily populated with non-productive...cannot sustain. Can't have all indians and no chiefs or all chiefs and no indians for that matter.

Bascially, you have too many dependents (or liablities) and not enough providers (or money). Which is why Europe is failing. And is why we are heading that direction (adding to the welfare class daily).

It's tough to claim the alliance you see with the KKK and Republicans, considering the KKK was founded by Democrats and one of their basic tenets was to intimidate and act violently towards Republicans.

But, sure, go ahead and continue to equate the KKK, Nazis, and any other group of people you don't like with Republicans.

These are the same Democrats that seceeded from the Union and fought for Confederacy right? The "States rights" and "pro-slavery" democrats......LULZ. In name only. False.

You are doing the exact same thing he is doing. Don't forget about them Dixiecrats. Now them was sum liberal SOBs....

I never claimed any of that wasn't also true. I guess you missed the point...and other posts.

NDAlum claiming ties to the KKK and Republican party is as legitimate as claiming KKK and Democrat ties.

I know I was doing the exact same thing as him. That was the point.

Sure, it also does not make it wrong. It makes it one persons opinion. Not sure what is narrow minded about it. Just because it is not what some people on this board agree with does not make it narrow minded.

Facts, logic, history, argumentative philosophy, and rationalization all make you wrong.

Having an opinion does not make you right or wrong. The point is to have a point of view that is well supported with evidence, sound logic, and reason......It is narrow minded because you have not used nor displayed any of the above to come to your opinion (conclusion).

Exactly. It's one thing to have an opinion on a matter and support it with logic...it's another to have an opinion and really offer nothing to back it up. Especially when you're accusing someone of something like being a Nazi by association. I mean, really.

I guess my cover is blown. Time to move to the UofM boards. I'll never convert any of you to the "right wing". LOL

Most of what is introduced as fact in this thread is conflation of two or more facts.

I will give you a fact:

To be a member of the KKK you have to be a Christian.
