Damn, how did they pull that off? Maybe the last Big Ten officiating debacle against ND was too obvious, even for scUM supporters!?!

So they can't uppercut our players and get away with it this year? Sweet!
In 2009 I thought I was watching a boxing match on tv and a game of football broke out.

Yeah, I would guess our administration put its foot down that that BS from '09 would not fly again.

I said it before and I'll say it again.. College officiating should be a national gig, not by conference. Also I can't wait to hear the BS if it ends up a close win for use, because you know the whine machine is already in full motion.

this changes my whole perspective on the game. I'm now not as worried as before about this game.

Yup. This went from "toss-up" to "win 3 out of 4" in my book.

And I totally agree that officiating should be something run by the NCAA not by conference. If it's going to be done by conference I wish ND would go with MWC officials.

Pretty sure it was Big East Officials last time at Michigan..does not make me feel any better

Doubt it. UM's concession to let Big East refs officiate our game this year is being reported as the first home game Michigan will have ever played without Big Ten refs.

Good! Because we were hoed out of two TDs last year. But I can already hear them saying that we bought refs. I really wanted to attend this game, but I am so glad I'm not. I live in the middle of scUM fans and ND, and they are already trash talking and getting defensive over the big house. I'd advise our fans to expect a fun time but prepare for the worst. There will be flying beer cans...you might think for a second your in east Lansing at the other school!

I was at the '09 game and had the biggest UM fan i know text me and say it wasnt near conclusive that AA stepped out on the reviewed TD. to this day i still have never seen the vid/pics. after rudolphs long play called back for holding i started to wonder if we were just getting shafted. didnt have DVR in '09 and never did find good clips of the game to relieve me of the feeling.

Its great to know that when i go to ann arbor sept. 10th for the night game that i wont have to wonder is this gonna be a repeat of my last trip here.

Plenty of shots abound that show he was out of bounds. But other plays that day are very much in question.

Don't forget about the clock issues at the end of the game. There was clearly 2 seconds left when Tate went out of bounds, and the refs just stormed off the field as fast as they could. Didn't even bother to review the play.

Too much at stake these days for conference refs-its time the NCAA went to employed refs with no conference affiliation. Are you telling me that an independent would ever get the benefit of the doubt when millions of $$$$ are on the line. Pay 'em good $$$$ and get good quality refs-no other way.

Never put it in the refs hands, then you never have to worry about a play here or there.

That's kinda hard when you're dealing with multiple phantom holding calls, no calls on pass interference, and TD's you legitimately scored getting called back. On top of that, your players are getting punched in the face and they can't fight back lest they get additional personal fouls called on them.

Polish Irishman's correct, article is incorrect. Big East officials were used in 09 at Michigan stadium.

You are wrong. Everyone knew about the big 10 refs making bad calls in that game. In fact, the next week, Charlie Weis was asked by the media about the bad calls, and all he said was that he would ask for an explanation from the Big 10 and declined to comment further since Big 10 refs were going to ref the Michigan State game at ND stadium that week.

You can read this article for further proof:

A day later, Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis is talking about officiating

Michigan has it so that all home games are officiated by big 10 refs, and so Big East officials ref our game against Michigan when at home. This will be the first time Big East refs officiate a home game at Michigan.

While I do like not having B10 officiating for the game in the outhouse, I'm not gonna lie....I don't feel that BE officiating is any better than that of the B10.
