What is wrong with people???
Sad as it is to say, it is almost getting to the point where this stuff isn't shocking. Gun control is not one of my pet issues, but I do think it is worth noting that these shootings are not possible without guns. As long as guns are ubiquitous in our country, we will continue to kill each other.
People will find guns for god sake.
Also of note, were it not for guns you would not be free.
I am not saying I totally agree or disagree with this but this is at least an interesting point....

Look, I'm not an anti-gun nut. I respect the second amendment and I appreciate the role that guns have played in our history. I also believe in finding moderate, practical solutions to problems. Part of the problem is cultural, in that too many people have too great a fascination with guns, and I recognize that you can't legislate that problem away. I also believe that the second amendment does not dictate that we cannot have reasonable regulations and restrictions on what kinds of guns are made, who can have them and where. (Also of note: the Second Amendment does not contain the word "gun.")
But the point remains that if we did not make guns, people would not have guns. If we made less, people would have less. If it were harder to get them, there would be less of them, and if there are less of them they would be easier to track and they would cost more. If they cost more and they are easier to track, I guarantee random acts of violence would decrease. Maybe the most determined psychopaths would still find guns, but why make it so easy for them?

What you really need to do is look into legislation that will allow people to carry everywhere. These 95% of these cowards go into "Gun Free" zones to shoot people because they know they can't shoot back. All these schools, the military base, and even the movie theater were all places that people weren't allowed to carry. Unfortunately the only thing that may even make them think twice is if one of these shooters gets popped right of the bat by a law abiding armed citizen.
As far as adding legislation. There are already too many laws that are on the books to catch these people. More laws don't work. You give me money and name an illegal drug. I guarantee you if I wanted I could get you anything you wanted (money being no option). People will still be able to get guns even if they were illegal. The only difference is you would spend more in a dark alley verse less at a gun store.
My prayers go out to the affected.

Lol.
The only people in support of gun control are the ones without guns.
Easy pickuns someday.

I'm a gun owner that supports stricter gun control laws. So I guess that one is wrong at least in my case.
Feel like this world is becoming lost. I can not for the life of me figure out why there are people who hold no value on their fellow man's life. The most precious gift taken away by any other means of health reason or accidents is just appalling to me. Even in those cases it's tragic.
Brother I've served in war zones and it is just as tragic to me. I hear ya!
It is a fantastic point. I'm not in favor of repealing the second amendment or anything, but rabid pro-gun people do not take a reasonable position or pay any attention to any of the more complicated components of the issue. Thanks for posting it.
A sincere thank you for your service and I am glad you are back.
I'd say you're welcome but there is no need for appreciation. It was always in my heart to defend the people and a place that I truly love! I just get down when things like this happen because unfortunately its people like this and movie theatre killers that get the same protection as well. But you can't sacrifice everyone's right to freedom because of another's evils.
Tom - That is a logical argument that I can certainly support, except for one issue. It is with restriction of an individual's freedom and in particular, with the individual's right to defend themselves and their family. Some citizens will choose to own firearms (regardless of what some statistics show about the use of guns for home defense) as the preferred way they wish to handle this issue. Restricting one's ability to do so by limiting firearm supply or increasing cost is obviously going to therefore restrict the way one may wish to provide for their personal/family security. Now, I will say that there is a very reasonable arguement to address types of personal firearms. For example, automatic weapons are not necessary and can be quite dangerous in home/personal defense situations, and are not recommended by most firearms experts for that reason. The bottom line IMO is that the wrong people are going to get firearms no matter what restrictions are in place, a la the old adage, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people." Perhaps it's more of a matter of educatiing our society than of blaming the instrument?
