Sign me up. If the bleacher report says so it must be a good sign

You would be extremely hard pressed to find a better linebacking unit in the entire country than the one in South Bend this year

Crist had a three game stretch last season that saw him throw for an average of 317 yards to go along with a total of seven touchdowns and three interceptions.

Expect to see that Dayne Crist for 13 games this year.

Wood will be a household name next year as he not only possesses the perfect combination of speed and elusiveness desired by every running back in America, he's the prototypical size (6'0", 210 lbs) of a running back that plays on Sundays

There really is nothing left to say about Michael Floyd, other than you can count on about 80 catches for 1,300 yards and 15 touchdowns next year

Final Prediction for Notre Dame football in 2011-12: 13-0 BCS National Champions

Finally, Prince Shembo (6'2", 250 lbs.) is nearly every Notre Dame fan's pick for breakout defensive player of the year in 2011. The extremely talented sophomore racked up 4.5 sacks last season in just seven games and is someone to keep our eye on—he will be playing on Sundays three years from now.

I thought this may have been getting a little bit ahead of ourselves, too.

I read another BR article in which someone predicted 12 sacks for Shembo this season. That makes the NFL prediction look rather tame in comparison.

No he really wasn't. There is so much wrong with that article.

And setting lofty goals doesn't make you a super fan if that's what you're getting at.

Oh and also ND could have a starting QB with no arms and Holtz would make a case for them being National Championship contenders

I'm not taking anything away from Prince. I think he'll be a fine player, and maybe someday he will play in the NFL. But how about he wins the starting job first?

I admire the guy's optimism. I'm cautiously optimistic myself. But getting carried away in July isn't going to do anyone any good. Everything the writer presented as fact (or even opinion) represents the best case scenario. If every single factor breaks in ND's favor, maybe they could go 13-0 and win the NC. But anyone expecting that to happen is being a little naive. Its a long season. Let's see how it plays out.

Some ideas Regarding Expectations And Beliefs

Davie, Willingham, Weis caused me frustration. Kelly gives me hope but my expectations remain in the 8-4 to 10-2 range.

10-2 is fine for me, a BCS match up and a good game to spring board for a 2012 NC.

I feel Shembo is going to be a beast as well. His natural pass rushing skills are very good. In year two they will be more polished and much more proficient. I think Shembo is well on his way to being our best outside pass rushing threat. I think off the edge he is the best we have right now, from the Hybrid OLB position. I can really see Shembo shining in the defense this season. I think the main key for our defense to keep playing at a high level is putting pressure on the QB. I believe that is the biggest key to success, besides keeping key offensive players healthy. The other player who I see finally making more of an impact is Fleming. I've been waiting on him to emerge for awhile, he shows flashes of greatness but lacks consistency. I think that should have been his main goal this off season. The sky is the limit with this team, we really need to make an example of South Florida week 1 and continue rolling after that. The first 4 games are very tough and if we make it out of those first 4 unblemished, I can see us making a BCS run if not a Championship run. Second year coaches at big programs tend to shine, Tressel, Meyer, Stoops, Chizik. Might be missing some. I think we lose 1 or 2 games tops. Vegas has set our o/u at 8.5 +115 which I WILL have a max wager on. As much hype as we have no one respects us yet and they shouldn't but I think we turn some heads this season.

Basically what it comes down to Trinity is that most of these guys have a tight sphincter re: the ND Football program due to not being able to deal with adversity and tough situations.

I salute the hell out of your optimism and I agree to a certain degree, but have tempered my enthusiasm just a bit below your prognostication.

Don't put too much stock into the comments here. Some of these guys have broken their ankles so many times getting on/off the ND band wagon that they don't know if they're walking on their feet or their a$$. They know who they are but continue to show up here and ramp up their nonsense every season.

Stay positive brother... We Are.....N.D.
