Looking at this team after last year I didnt anticipate a title or anything but starting this way sucks

That’s the key! Think back. Before all the hype from ND & national media, was this really a title contender? I didn’t think so b/c of breaking in a new QB. Ironically, QB hasn’t been the issue. The loss of Kiser/Watts/Mills/Cross on D & the downgrade in OL has been the difference. It’s a 10 win worthy team but w/ only 10 regular season games, I don’t see that happening.

The OL against Miami shook me the most because these guys all played a lot last year - but in retrospect I think Riley covered up a ton of deficiencies there, so the starts and the wins did not really end up carrying much weight.

Look after watching how we just lost this game, this is cope to the nth degree.

We should be 2-0. We’re 0-2. It’s not because of guys within the lines. It’s because of the guy(s) tasked with putting them in places to succeed.

MF is in management above all else. He is an upper level manager. In management, once you know that a person is unfit in a certain role and is not able to be trained, you sever ties. You cut bait.

I honestly would think even more of MF as a coach if he cut Ash after today. It isn’t working. Maybe he’s a nice guy. Give him a decent severance.

I doubt anyone can speak to specifics (other than what we are seeing on the field), but they noted there were coaches / players expressing concern about the scheme changes in the offseason.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not particularly bothered by others labeling him an awful hire. Lax just asked if a couple things were unanimous. I'm aware of a lot of reasons why the D hasn't looked great in two games, and they're certainly not all on Ash. I'm also even-keeled by nature, and I'm aware Nick Saban nearly got fired for good reason at MSU (when I was there) and decreased the program's winning percentage despite outstanding talent on hand, had a losing record in the NFL, where talent is more even, and lost six games in his first year at Bama, three to unranked teams, including Louisiana-Monroe. I also remember ND fans calling for Al Golden's head in his first season, and I know a lot of ND fans believe Bob Diaco, who lead us to the NC game and won the Broyles Award for good reason is the quentissential piece of shit defensive coordinator. So yeah, if anybody's going to call a coach trash after two games, I'm just not a likely candidate.
