We scored 40 points and lost. Offense wasn’t a problem.
We can’t rush and we can’t cover. The amount of guys wide open against this defense is god awful.

I’m not as mad at Buchner as some. He dropped the ball. It happens. The throw afterwards is what baffles me after being a QB at 2 major programs for 5 years.

The problem for us is its playoff or bust. We don’t have a conference to fall back on. It sucks, but barring a miracle we’ve got some pretty slim margins.

Maybe I’ll be wrong but how far do we expect them to drop tomorrow? I could be wrong but I’m expecting 15-19 range. I think ND benefits a ton from starting high. They wouldn’t have to climb nearly as much as a normal 10-2 non conference winning team.

Again though, doesn’t matter without major changes right now.

Karson Hobbs is legitimately terrible. When a guy is that bad on the field to start the year, I have very serious questions about the coaches watching him play in Spring and Fall and making the decision he’s the guy. Somewhat similar of Knapp. How did we get to the point where he is the best LT we have? These seem like glaringly bad evals thus far.

With that said, it’s not just Hobbs. The whole secondary sans Moore is just terrible. Sometime last season, I believe, I posted that I felt Mickens was one of the best assistant coaches of my ND fandom. What in the fuck is going on. Is Ash, as a former DB coach, screwing with his process? Is it the timing of the defensive play calls? I do t have time to re-watch in detail anymore but it’s the worst position group on the team right now. They are truly awful and Micken is their position coach. Truly stunned by this.

What is maddening about all this is how wildly inconsistent Freeman is as a coach. At least with whatshisface, you knew what you had. The truly great head coaches do not have wild swings on their teams. Yeah, upsets happen. That’s not what all this, and NIU, and bad Stanford, etc, are…

Tbh I don't know, but I'm going to ask around on Monday. I doubt they publicly announce that they took duties away from him regardless but you're going to lose the locker room unless there are some changes of some sort.

Makes me wonder if Mickens just bombed his DC interview unexpectedly. I can't imagine him calling Golden's defense from last year would go this poorly.

If Marcus doesn’t grab his balls and nuke Ass into orbit tomorrow then he can hitch a ride with him. This trash performance tonight was unacceptable at this stage in his career. He better fix things in a hurry because the exodus of recruits will be next.

I want to root for Karson Hobbs so bad since he was a diehard ND fan along with his dad, but he’s got Ambrose Wooden energy.

this is freeman’s fourth season…. He’s significantly underachieved and had bad seasons 3 out of 4. I believe he needs to go, but I’d give him the season and force him to make a DC change immediately. If they salvage the season he comes back for 26 to see if he can actually lead the program.

Freeman is all talk but no accountability

That's what I expect, too. They aren't going to get pounded for losing by a total of 4 to two teams that will both be in the Top 10. Some people here don't want to hear that, but it's the truth.

This is a really good point. And a hard point. But if we’re going to be a championship caliber team yearly, we can’t have Rudy’s starting at nickel.

Jeebus,… if this team finishes 8-4 I’d be happy at this point,…

The big fall will be when we lose to Arkansas in two weeks.

One of the 5 most brutal losses in my 40 years as a fan.

It's not even like Aggy played well. They mostly played like butt juice, too, but somehow we were worse. They committed 14 penalties. FOURTEEN. How many 3rd and longs did they convert??? Then the special teams nonsense at the end. Our total lack of pressure on their QB. Their guys running open almost all night. Our DBs dropping interceptions. It was just a comedy of errors.

I don't like either Denbrock or Ash. Antiquated schemes, some truly head-scratching play calls.

On the plus side, we have a QB. Carr was big time on that go-ahead drive. Unfortunately, the other two units spit the bit.

2. This is a BVG moment with Chris Ash. This defense is not good. Guys are confused, yelling at each other from miscommunication.
Yes this is really obvious. They are barely set by snap time.
3. CJ Carr is the real deal. Unfortunately he doesn't have the support he needs to lead an elite team.
Yep. Unfortunately, he is going to get a little frustrated with the WRs like Kizer in 2016.

Moore's INT was brilliant. Grey remains hot and cold, but more cold this year than last. Shuler seems to have lost his edge (though the targeting call was bullshit). The other safety position is a black hole, and IDK if the transfer nickle from Alabama is even on the team, but I do know that Hobbs sucks. Coupled with our inability to get any pressure without blitzing, and the pass D has gone from a perceived strength to a major liability.

he's a first year starting CB playing in a brand new defense that is not generating any consistent pass rush.

He is not playing well, but there's certianly a LOT of room for improvement.

On some of these plays he’s either running several steps behind the WR or completely lost. He’s no way, shape, or form in a position to do anything at all. It’s truly embarrassing.
