D you really believe that inflammatory, incendiary and insipid insults are an invitation to anything approaching discourse or conversation?

Think again, my friend.

Keep it up and I may well unleash my full alliterative wrath upon you.
In my criticism of Obama, not once did I endorse the Trump Doctrine.

Quote this one too. "f--- o--" lol...just kidding.

What do you want to talk about?

Haha, no worries. When this kind of shit happens, I just like to be able to come to the thread and look for updates on what happened/is happening. Probably a result of 9/11 when we had multiple planes hijacked. I come back to see if this is an isolated incident or part of a larger plot. Get frustrated combing through 50-100 posts that have nothing to do with the actual attack and is all about the politics of which president would be better to have to handle this. But I may be in the minority with this issue. Carry on.

Yes, can be way worse...that would be a dictatorship. Fortunately for Americans, assuming you are, we have an 8 year term max.

Trump, more than anyone else, would put a STOP to this.

How? How would that idiot put a stop to a terrorist attack in Western Europe? By saying tough words and acting like a buffoon? What's his plan? You realize that several conservative experts in this field and respected generals have panned Trump's foreign policy 'ideas' as both reckless and stupid, right?

The guy is a fucking moron when it comes to foreign policy. He has absolutely no clue, other to say that he'll stop it "quickly", as if there is some magic bomb that can make it go away. These terrorists hate us with a passion, and it's going to take toughness AND savvy, and that thin-skinned hothead lacks REAL roughness and he definitely isn't savvy enough to beat ISIS et al. This isn't a real estate deal where you can low ball someone and then threaten to sue when you dont get your way.

Sorry for the rant, but it is mind-blowing how many people just believe that fraud, just because he talks tough. Dig deeper and you'll see why so many generals and conservative foreign policy experts can't stand the guy.

I vote that any time something bad happens, we just close the board until Whiskey can make an announcement. Until he says something every neocon mouth breather sits at their keyboard and vomits all over the board. Some of you should really take a breath before you post. You sound like a band of wild idiots.

Great rant (spoken like a true Democratic from Cali)...no apologies needed. I hear every word. But if you think Hillary is the answer for this answer then that is your vote. And if you choose to look away from what is going on in the world then that is your vote as well. I just hope you know when that attack hits the states...it might be any one of our families.

Shocked to hear it wasn't carried out by a white nationalist. Who knew Muslims could be so violent?

"Neocon mouth breathers?" Neocons support open borders, thinking that if we bomb these countries the people will like us more. Or something. I don't take this view. They need not be our problem, and no American needs to die to fix their countries.

The difficulty is that as long as they keep coming to our countries, these sort of things will keep happening. They then become our problem.

Maybe this is why we have different countries?

Prays with victims and familys. When and how does this stop? My takeaway from the Obama era is the one who let the terrorist terrorize.

Ditto. He's too gutless to confront Islamic terrorism head-on. I wonder if he still considers ISIS just "a JV team"?

Mouth breathers, not fire breathers. I thought you would have picked that phrase up in your immensely broad 20 something years of life.

Your world view is paper thin and you are the kind of guy that always thinks he is the smartest guy in the room. Kinda pathetic. Go "breath fire" with the rest of the weirdos. Because I don't really give a fuck about your opinion on political matters. I can just grab whatever the most angry, racist, myopic viewpoint to any particular situation and assume that is what you believe. Haven't been wrong yet, I doubt you'll ever surprise us...

France is a different country too.

Obama is somehow not only responsible for every move within the US, but now the Western world. This is new. Stupid too.

Maybe all of the so-called conservatives here can bring up the putrid military spending levels in Europe and recognize that they are their own protectors at the end of the day. Why can't they have some personal responsibility?

Europe has a combined GDP larger than the US. They have the cash to build forces capable of stabilizing at least part of the Middle East. Libya should have been a wakeup call that they are completely unprepared to defend themselves.

These attacks change nothing in the standoff with ISIS. There will be more if only because the people staring each other down in the game of geopolitical chess don't give a shit about 70+ dead French. Or millions of suffering refugees..

Sure, why wouldn't he consider them that? They haven't made territorial gains in over a year, and are increasingly running out of luck in Iraq lately.

They represent an existential threat to exactly no nation on earth. Not even a shattered Syria.

People who cowardly beg for something to be done do themselves a disservice. Take two seconds to read into why the US, and more importantly Sunning countries, aren't moving to end ISIS.

I swear we have the same god damn responses every thread.

I've never voted for a Democratic presidential candidate in my life, but nice try.

And you're right, it could be my family. But it also could be my family and yours as well with Trump, while we're both searching for jobs because his economic policies are a joke as well.

My point remains that all he does is talk tough (which is funny coming from a guy with 5 draft deferments), and we need so much more than that. I don't trust him AT ALL when it comes to this shit. Way too much of an idiot and way too much of a hothead.

Why does the thread title say "Possible terror attack" when I watched someone drive a truck stocked with guns and explosives through a crowd of people?

ISIS may not be controlling more territory, but I think they are accomplishing what they are setting out to do. You have a world living in complete fear. Terrorism comes up each day in conversation. I know more than a handful of people who have altered their life based on this fear. One of my customers just cancelled their 25th anniversary Mediterranean cruise because his wife is so fearful and that was before tonight occurred.

then they are doing exactly what the terrorists want them to do.

Some amount of shite written in this thread lads, depressing reading.

First and foremost, I want to offer my prayers to the victims and those close to them, as well as the entire country of France. They have been hit so hard by this sort of thing in the last few years, I can't even begin to fathom their mindset.

Since a terror attack is part of the post title, I do feel the topic of terrorism is pertinent. This likely would not have happened otherwise. The "person" that committed this atrocity was from Tunisia, right next door to what was once French Algeria. The French once had quite a presence in northern Africa and some parts of the middle east. Discuss the aspects of this particular topic specifically without going off on a tangent if you will, although it is certainly not within my authority to suggest that.

This isn't about who helped perpetuate the formation of this group because that didn't happen overnight. It started out as one thing and evolved over the years into another. The fact of the matter is, these psychopaths only really became active in the last several years and placing blame accomplishes nothing. The question is, what the hell does it take to stop it as soon as possible?

I do agree the primary topic should be the victims. It should still be open to discussion but the attack itself and the victims should both be the primary topic. Neither Dubyah or 0bama drove the truck. They didn't order them to do this, they didn't intend for things like this to happen and I guaran-fricking-tee you that neither the victims or their families care why this happened right now, only that it happened. It isn't a political topic, it is a human topic.

This attack evidently included an American man and his young son that were on a family vacation. Prayers to them and theirs because all they were doing was enjoying a vacation in France.

Also, prayers and strength to all those that have suffered from losing loved ones or experiencing pain because of this act of atrocity. May you one day find peace.

Take this as you will.

But here is the thing.......

This is a discussion board, not a news site. If you want news, go to CNN.com or one of the millions of other news sites. Coming here to look for news about a terror attack in France is akin to going to a strip club to savor good wines. You're asking it to be something it is not.

None of the "discussion" happening in the hours after the attack deserved debate. It was just a bunch of people yelling about Obama and not actually discussing any ideas. I don't participate in that low brow level of discussion, maybe you should consider the same.

That's a life lesson there, grasshopper.

no quips about obama and george w today then?
I'm so sick of this idea that the only thing you're allowed to say after an act of violence is "sympathy for the victims and we'll discuss the implications at some future, politically appropriate time." #PrayForNice doesn't do a damn thing to actually PREVENT these attacks from happening in the future. I think trying to erode the wall of cowardice and political correctness that prevents us from talking about Islamic terrorism honestly is time well spent.
