So basically a bunch of 3 stars are going to beat a bunch of 4.5 stars? Its all about coaching

I hope you are right 23, stars aren't everything but I couldn't believe the drastic difference going into this year. I bet if you did this for scUM and PSU they would be drastically higher than us as well. Incidentally the two deep does help the comparison a bit. JC, JA, KR, Duval, Walls, McNeil. All at least a 4 stars.

by the time we Charlie's guys on the field then the talent level will be the same, but the coaching will be better.

well, not be a realist on a homerist site, but poodle does have a few years on charlie and who knows about CB. If recruiting is any indication of what to expect on the field, sign me up. Personally, I think all us ND fans should expect while poodle is at USC is to split the series and be competitive every time we play them. Considering they've been in the top 5 nearly every year the last 5 or 6 years, I'm happy with that becuase that means we are competing for a NC every year.

While we may not have the ratings that Southern Cal has, I think we're gonna be very competitive with them this year. I don't know, I feel a shocker this year. The closer the season gets, the more confident I feel about this year. Are we going to lose some? Yes, but I think by the time Southern Cal rolls in, we're going to be playing better, and I look for our young talent to start stepping in and making an impact. Time to take off the diapers and let them be men. Sep. 1st can't get here fast enough!!!!!!!!!!!

That is possibly the best thing I have seen this year, or last when being compared to Southern Cal. If they actually believe they can compete, then they will. Look at what Oregon St. did last year in Corvallis.

Coaching helps, but there are plenty of amazing coaches who were constrained by their lack of talent. Ara at Northwestern comes to mind.

It don't help you need the brains of a Rocket Scientist. You will never see a big time coach go there for that reason.

Hey our comparison is actually better now that JC and AA and Walls are starting.

we are pissing into the wind against the GT's, PSU's, scUM's and USC's (even BC and UCLA) of the world this year man. We do need to be patient.
