that's the most common excuse I've heard for the beating today... sad really, the haters would rather blame BIG TEN officals for a 41-17 beating of a BIG TEN team than just give ND a little credit...

Irish Envy certainly was a great choice for this grand site....

The officials didn't fumble twice or throw an interception or drop passes. Whatever helps them sleep at night. Penn St just got beat.......severely. Too bad we allowed two late TD's. 41-3 would have looked so much better. We can blame Quinn for overthrowing receivers. We should have scored 50. What I'm trying to say is that lame excuse can go either way. Vic was getting held all day. They weren't calling that.

Boy you ain't kidding, another big one was how Nd ran the score up on Penn St.

Notre Dame seriously owns some souls out there.... lol

All we will hear all week is how Mich is going to kill us, IF we win, Michigan will be garbage and so will we... laughable how farsome people will go to come to terms (or NOT come to terms) with the idea that Notre Dame is back... National Title this year or not...

I love that the hate is back. This is fun. Let them make excuses. Penn St's over. It's time for Michigan.

I was hearing about the refs even before the game was played. How Notre Dame would get some lucky breaks etc. So Penn State fans had their excuses even before the game started.

Here's a fun little stat for my fellow domers:

Penalties:
Penn State had 4 penalties for 25 yards.
Notre Dame had 6 penalties for 64 yards.

"the refs screwed penn state"? How is that possible? Someone explain that to me.

I used to post over on the espn boards, still do sometimes, but their boards really don't accomplish anything. My favorite excuse is how the fake punt and going for the td on 4th down is a classless move by "fat charlie" and ND.

hahaha, LMAO, Big Ten fans saying Big Ten refs made ND win? That's a first. Big Ten refs have never made a call in ND's favor if they could help it.

also, on a side note, we've played 2 games and the other team hasn't had a single holding call on them. We must be playing some really talented offensive lines.

maybe its that we are not getting enough of a push for them to hold us...there were some calls today where they didnt call on them holding Victor

Wait until 3 weeks from now. All the haters will be saying Penn State was overrated and sucked, when just last week they were saying ND would lose and we were the ones who were overrated. God it never ends.

This is altogether unnecessary and dishonest. No one in the national media, no one during the game, and no unbiased observers commenting online have characterized this as anything but a beating, plain and simple.

So, no, no one is saying this. The entire football world, from Joe Pa on down, is saying this was a beating. Believe it or not, a few sad Penn State fans online do not a consensus make.

Simple, they didn't call enough penalties on ND!

Sorry RalphWaldo but they said it on ESPNHD right after the game how Penn State is not that good because they are so young. That is calling ND over rated without pulling the trigger.
True most people are impressed, but the haters are there.

That clipping call they called on PSU was not a clip.
Should have been a big gain for the Lions.

Big Ten boards think we were running up the score.

How is scoring 41 points in a game running the score up? If I remember correctly PSU dropped 60 something points on Illinois last year. Weis doesn't run up scores, anyone who thinks that is an idiot. Carroll runs the score up on teams(though he really didn't for the most part against ND, although UCLA gets it bad) and Stoops really ran it up on Texas one year when OK won 70-7. Carroll has often scored 60 even 70 points against a team. I'm almost positive you'll never see ND score 60 or 70 points against a team under Weis, even though we're more than capable.

This excuse can not be used anymore as it was in the past. In the past you could have been able to use this and gain some sympathy for your losing team. But now days with the amount of instant replays I have seen in each game. This excuse is no longer acceptable. This excuse is the reason we have instant replay and a coaches challenge.

Agreed...that's the only call I can see PSU complaining about. The blocker whiffed on the clip actually. All the rest called were valid. Now, the ones that they DIDN'T call were mainly PSU's offensive line holding some of our guys. I only saw one or two obvious ones there though.

if they don't like getting scored on that much stop us!! the offense job is to score not worry about their feelings and if we are going to embarase them if you don't like it get better, stop it from happening, or play D-2 teams bitches.

Did anyone notice that the play that Penn St. scored their 1st T.D. on ...........the ball was snapped after the play clock had expired! They showed the clock for a second ......on T.V., & it definitely expired. The announcers never said a word. How about it Penn St. fans? Where's the favoritism on that play from your own officials?
