They could try all they want but the Big 12 doesn't want them(Small market and horrible academics)... WVU is on island already and if the Big 12 expands they will likely try to bridge that gap.

I haven't compared the two but is BS any worse than WVU in regards to either of those points??

I believe so, problem with Boise is it's a former Junior College and has that "taint"(Junior College still until the 70's). edit- Boise is much lower

As a person who used the Junior College system in California I am grateful for it.

It's hard for me to wrap my mind around WVU in any serious fashion after the Noel Devine thing... their fan base sure doesn't scream 'accreditation' either.

WVU isn't exactly highly rated, but I think they're trying to change that.

Hey they were the university responsible for finding out Audi was rigging the emission tests.

I really wish Nebraska would go back, but I doubt they will (Pride). I think they saw a chance to jump ship before it sank and went quickly, but now that we see that the Big XII is still afloat and attempting to regain the power they once had, it would do wonders for both if Nebraska would join again.

I think Memphis is an interesting choice, but how are their academics? It would be great to see Houston and SMU join for some of those old SWC rivalries again.

Colorado State is interesting too. Not much of a market in Colorado, but since the Buffs left it would fill that void, plus it could work to balance the geography of the conference.

Wasn't Nebraska (like Missouri) pretty cheesed off about the Texas-centric nature of the Big 12 nowadays? And UT's heavy hand in conference matters.
IIRC Mizzou a few years back felt like they got passed over for a good bowl slot in favor of a Texas school w/same record. Then the SEC came calling.

Either way, the Huskers have suffered. But I wonder if their Texas recruiting wouldn't have fallen either way w/the rise of Baylor, TCU, etc.

Yes, that was a major cited reason for them leaving the 12...

Cincy to the Big 12 makes some sense. Gotta pair someone up out there with West Va. BYU probably next most logical.

Who else will take Memphis beside the Big 12? The ACC won't take them because of academics, SEC won't double down in Tennessee and not chance of the Big 10 calling them up. There only hope really is the Big 12.

Cincy has options maybe, the ACC would look at them and the Big 12.

UConn has options, the Big 10 and the ACC maybe

Do you mean triple down? They already have Vanderbilt and UT.

Need guts to want Memphis in your league --- major risk for NCAA sanctions historically, and I know of nothing changing nowadays.

And once that coach leaves it will go back to its place in irrelevancy.

Would love to see Cincy get into a big conference and could see myself traveling down to see them host a big Big 12 opponent.

I hope Cincy gets the nod to join the ACC, nice bridge for us if we ever joined and close to Louisville.

Please don't ask me to watch UC/ND play.

I would of course root for ND. But it would hurt.

I went to a couple of UC/ND Big East basketball matchups when ND would come to town. I would wear my UC jersey, but I would have to put my jacket on because I would find myself rooting for ND too loudly.

Lol, I have no ties to Ohio but I would love to see them in a major conference.

Nebraska and Missouri to the Big12. Big10 replaces Nebraska with Cincinnati and the SEC replaces Missouri with Memphis. At least that's what would do in NCAA14 lol

OSU would never allow UC anywhere near the B1G.

In fact, whenever UC actually comes close to an offer from the BigXII/ACC, I bet OSU's admin start pulling as many strings as they can to try and shoot it down.

But it is a fun scenario for NCAA lol.

So with the new deal the B1G has struck furthering the revenue gap, what does everyone think is going to happen when the GOR expires for the Big XII, ACC, B1G?

Does the Big 12 survive? Do we finally end up with 4 conferences with 16 teams? And does ND become a full member of the ACC?

I'm waiting to see what happens with the other half of the contract. If they get close to what fox paid for the 1st half then we may see movement. OU does not seem content in the Big 12 (Boren wants a network and expansion). Interesting to watch for sure.

None of this affects us yet, if the Big 12 dissolves then we may have to reevaluate .

It's just a matter of time before the P5 football schools do away with the NCAA and Texas leaves for the B1G with Kansas.

The question is how many teams will be in each conference. That is diectly related to how many schools / markets make the cut. Like SDSU is going to be in the PAC someday. Too many TV's to leave out the recipe.

I could see Texas in the PAC 12 and I don't think the pac wants sdsu. But I could see the pac 12 going after UNLV and someone else. UNLV is on the verge of making a deal with the Raiders to build a big stadium on UNLV's campus to share and they are building a new medical school to help with qualifying to join the PAC 12

If Texas heads to the B1G, I'd like to see ND bite the bullet and join the B1G as well. They could be in the western/weaker half of the conference and compete for a spot in a conference championship every year.

Every year, you'd (in a perfect world) see Texas/ND squaring off with OSU/scUM/Sparty in the B1G 'chip. You could throw Oklahoma in there if they decide to follow Tejas.

(I realize that it's blasphemous to discuss ND to the B1G, and ND likely is locked into the ACC if more change happens, but that's just my preference in terms of ND having a shot at the playoffs every year.)

I agree, not gonna be a popular stance but the conference would cover most of the spots we need to recruit. Make the USC game a Neutral site game in California and call it a day.

I'm intrigued of being with TX and/or OK, but think I still prefer the ACC. Sexier. Southeast. Talent pool. And I'm in the ATL....
