This is so silly. This game is nothing more than 1 of 15 practices.

Lynch has been pretty dominant in practices also. I def. think that the future is bright bright bright for Aaron.
He's got such a natural instinct to find the ball. He's so smooth blowing by the blockers too.
Gonna have to get a #19 jersey.

Saw lots up for Nix. All he has done is rush. No agility. So slow. But will be great on first down and short yardage but terrible on 2nd and 3rd. When he bullrushes like he does at times he is creating huge seems. Watch and you will see. May look awesome but causes issues with the defense.

His job as a big body is to bull rush and clog the middle. Those seams are the linebackers responsibility.

No those seams are not all lbs. Case in point the last play where Golson scrambled up the middle. All on Nix. Got up field and created a huge gap. Backers do have a gap. But when the lineman get up field it makes the gaps alot bigger and harder to cover. All on Nix.

Your pretty much the only one calling Nix out for bad play. Keep in mind this is his first real action in shape. Also, if you think Nix is going to be bouncing around in gaps and making tackles on guys like Golson, your wrong. More times than not, when running the very vanilla defensive packages they ran today, his job IS to bullrush the middle and let the more athetic linebackers and safeties fill the gaps. Your not going to see a whole lot of stunts and DL coverages in the spring game. His job IS to clog the middle and let his LB core clean up the seams.

Stock Up: Unbridled, and perhaps unwarranted(considering this was an intra-squad scrimmage), optimism

Stock Down: Reasoned, cautious thought.

There's really no telling if the offenses struggled because of the elements, the rust, a lack of elite talent, or the talent on the defensive side of the ball.

Lynch certainly looked like a ball player, but let's wait and see how he does against someone other than a teammate.

Agreed that there are no stunts but if you watch he gets way up field. May look like hes blowing people up but in actuallity he is creating space. Looks good for those who dont understand what the defense as a whole is doing but if you know the way the defense works seems like he created were more like gaping areas. Lbs can only cover so much area. Yes he is aloud to bullrush. But he cannot get as much depth. He was out of control alot of times.

Some questions for you guys who were privileged to watch the game. I've read the thread. Did Riddick play?? Did Eifert?? If so, why no mentions?? Was it weather or great DB and Safety play?? What about Fleming, KLM, EJohnson? The whole defensive staring backfield?? Some of that is supposed to be the strength of the team. Was anyone watching any of the fine points not necessarily right on the ball?? It would be interesting to hear of some of that.

In no way am I disrespecting your opinion, I just disagree. If you told me that Nix could require a double team, or get 5-7 yards in the backfield for even half the snaps he's on the field, I would take it every day of the week. If the DL can push the line of scrimmage back 3-5 yards on every snap, we win. That's been one of the biggest problems in recent years with our defense. The guy is a stud. I think he played well today. I like what I saw on the field from him and I think he looks a lot better as far as his conditioning. Just my opinion. Mike Frank and other mods (ISD) were also very impressed by what they saw from him today.

Missed the game. I am so darn excited for Aaron Lynch and mama. Love that kid.

Saw two movies recently - Terminator Salvation and Avatar. Lynch looks like Sam Worthington.

Welch did pretty well, Eifert got only one look if I can recall.

I was a bit disappointed in Riddick, only because he seemed to be dogging it alot today... We all know he is a playbmaker though, so I'm not worried.

Lo Wood's pick on Rees was a wonderful zone scheme coverage that he played to perfection.

Spond is a player and will probably see alot of the rotation, IMO.

Rees and Crist did struggle, but their recievers didnt help them at all. Massa should have had the TD in the first with the beautiful Rees pass.

Past Cierre we are REALLY low on viable RB's.

ISHAQ made some great plays. I liked the bending past the tackle quote from Mayock, right on target.

All in all in was tough to get a good gauge because of the elements. Aaron Lynch DEFINATELY stood out as the player of the game though. And second place goes to Hendrix with the way he turned it on late.

Eifert, Smith, Slaughter, Gray, Blanton, Motta, Fleming, KLM and EJ only played a series or two at max. Riddick played the first half. Riddick had a nice run on a reverse, but other then that was quite. Reese and Crist didn't play well; they seemed rusty, it was cold and wet and timing was off with the receivers.

As Kelly said this was really for the younger players to get experience and for the staff to evaluate them.

Ragone didn't play much either, but he had a nice catch on the opening series. Kelly played Welch and Golic for the rest of the game.

BTW that was a great play by Wood coming off his man in the zone.

I dont get the nix hate, I thought he looked fine for a nose tackle in a 3-4 defense. Some of you are looking too much into this game.

But I will say this though, rees still doesnt have downfield range and crist still cant hit the 10 yard out. If I'm taking anything out of this game, its the fact the team has a long ways to go to determine a quarterback for south florida.

I feel ya on the QBs situation. Rees is a stud to 15-18 yds. He can thread the needle, but ONLY in the short field. Crist drives me nuts with those worm burners he throws on the out patterns. Crist does have a great control over the hundle, and DOES seem to be the guy ATM, but in all honesty, I could see Hendrix taking it from them at some point.. Everett is really going to be a STUD, but he is WAY to shaky right now. He has a CANNON for an arm, and his scrambling is by far the best off the 4, but he CANNOT stay in the pocket. He needs to work on his pocket presence before he will be given an opportunity. This is all my OPINION BTW...
