Shaw to USC?
And just like that, Walter Rouse becomes the smartest guy in the room. For him, it came down to Stanford and ND, he chooses the Trees and (barring injury) becomes a 3yr starting LT and a Top 10 NFL draft pick.
Huh? If he was a lock to be a top 10 draft pick, he'd also be a multi-year starter at ND. Period. It's also quite strange to state that someone who has never played a college game is going to be a Top 10 draft pick barring injury.
I'm sure he would've been a multi-year starter at ND. It wouldn't have been this year even if Eichenberg went down like Little. He couldn't have walked on to campus at ND in June and beat out Lugg but he obviously could/did at Stanford.
The other part of being a multi year starter at Stanford vs ND in his case:
Stanford = Starting LT as a true Fr w/o EEing, So & Jr then off to the league. Little's not coming back, he doesn't need to.
ND = Comes in and redshirts in '19.
In '20, competes with whoever is left between Eichenberg & Hainsey + Lugg, then Q Carroll and Tosh Baker (who will end up redshirting). If Eich and Hainsey are both gone, he wins one of the OT spots and one of the other two go inside.
2021 = He has 6-8/325 RS Freshman Tosh Baker to deal with for LT. But both of them are starting.
In regards to him never playing a college game yet, he's played in both games so far and of course, started vs SC. But it wouldn't be weird for me to say someone's gonna be a Top 10 NFL pick before they played a college game. I said the exact thing about the guy he replaced, I've said it about Tosh Baker, hell, I said it about Trevor Lawrence before he ever played as a Soph in HS.
I really cannot make heads or tails of the logic you're trying to present. You are correct that he has played two games so my bad on the over-exaggerating that.
Still, this muddles how a Stanley or McGlinchey level OT would obviously be tabbed a starter on this team without a second thought. There is no question that an OT with Top 10 pick talent would beat out any of the currently rostered players... that is flat out axiomatic. So the competition angle makes no sense whatsoever.
But all of this is sort of besides the point, which is that being a "tout" about how a kid who has proven nothing is a certain top 10 pick is pretty crazy. How about this? I'll bet you any amount of money you want that he is not a top 10 pick in the 2022 NFL draft and I'll give you 5-to-1 odds. Let me know what level you're comfortable betting at. I'll take any action from $1 to 5 beers at the next ND game to whatever you are willing to put in escrow for two years.
I don't know why you are introducing Stanley or McG to this or that they would start on this team???
And if I'm a "tout", you're a chince. 5:1 odds on a Top 10 scenario call in 3 years??? Gee thanks Beav!
How about 25:1 he goes first 3 rounds when he comes out barring injury of course. That's still not good enough odds for a lowly 3*/#37 OT but maybe I'm seeing something that isn't there.
But either way, I'm not opening an escrow account.
I laughed when I saw this on the news last news. 1:30 mark

Stanford is teetering on the edge of no longer being a "power." They're a soft, poorly coached team now despite an offense littered with 5-stars. And many of those top rated players are a year or two from being gone.
In 2018 their class ranked 40th, 2019 it was 21st, and this year it's 27th. There is a very reasonable chance they finish with 5+ losses at which point they're one more mediocre season away from total irrelevance. Once they're more closely associated with 7-5 style seasons than competing for PAC12 championships their nationwide recruiting will dry up and that will do wonders for Notre Dame. This difference between Notre Dame classes being "good" and "elite" is basically a handful of players like Adebo.
This is their 2016 except it's more to do with the chickens finally coming home to roost than a bad hire or two. And they don't have much in the pipeline, sooooo...Stanford back to Earth? Yes please and thank you. Now ND go get them croots!Stanford was obliterated by Washington State last night, giving up 49 to Leach & his boys. They currently sit at 4-6 and play a hungry Cal team in their rivalry game followed by ND to close the year.

This. Those guys we've lost to them would have put us over the top these last 5-10 years imo. A stranglehold on the "smart elite kids" would place ND firmly in the CFP race year in and year out. Hopefully they tailspin badly, and we blow them out at home by 4-5 TDs+.
Stanford Rushing v WSU - 16 yds. Rushing Offense ranks 118th nationally.
Stanford Passing Def v WSU - 520 yds surrendered. Passing D ranks 114th nationally.
Should be able to capitalize on this. After we whoop that ass in Palo Alto. BTW, I’ll be at that game. Boom!
Kelly gets up 31-3 in the 3rd, sends Phil in to feed C'Bo 3 times up the middle behind back up OC Colin Grunhard. Kelly learned how to finish a game from one of the best...

That’s a lot of snaps to lose on the DL with Swan and Williams gone. They better hope the young guns don’t get injured or they could be screwed yet again.
We finally get a GT that's a good fit and... we don't need him.
I would make a run at Swann can never have enough depth up front
