Obviously Hurts So Good isn't going to make you want to run through a brick wall, but it wakes everyone up regardless of age and gets people yelling still. There's plenty of harder hits that can get the blood pumping. Just saying if you play nothing but modern garbage you're going to lose a lot of the crowd, you should definitely leave in some fan favorites because they're always going to be popular.

It pretty much is, band has been playing it for at least 20 years and we've got Bon Jovi's blessing.

I'm watching the Indiana game yesterday, and during the 3rd quarter they start playing Mellancamp's Hurt So Good and of course John is there because he's a superfan. They're panning the camera through the fans, most of which is the student section because they bring energy, and they're all singing along despite the fact the song is as old as their parents or older.

I couldn't find the clip from yesterday, but same deal they played it during the playoffs last year and everyone is singing along young and old. Classics may not be sexy for the kids, but they bring everyone together regardless of age.

I rest my case.

Been giving the music some thought. How about Franz Ferdinand's Take Me Out as an anthem option? It's a great song, singable, upbeat, not ancient, and would be unique. I don't know of anyone else using it.

With that said, the obvious choice is still Living On A Prayer. The students love it, the older fans love it, and it would work with the lights. Have Jon go on the video board announcing the new tradition after the 1812 Overature, and the stadium will rock.

The guitar build up would play well in a stadium setting and 80,000+ shouting the background chorus like it's Seven Nation Army would go very hard and IMO has a slightly irish/celtic vibe to it.

aha back in the 2000's a bunch of rugby teams back home were using this, Leinster (Dublin's team) being the main one.
