Brings in a QB coach known for not developing his quarterbacks? That’s a bold move
If Saban's assessment is that the guys can't be developed beyond "check with me" reads and "don't throw picks," then Tommy is a good choice for that kind of offense. I don't care enough about Alabama to have any sort of informed opinion on what they have, though, so... 🤷‍♂️

Right now.
On the BGI Live post game, Tim Hyde is literally saying play Buchner over Hartman because ND isn’t a title contender this year so they should be preparing for next year.

I’m not shitting you.
They aren't a title contender with Buchner as the QB1, period, whether this year or next. So if that's the metric, just go straight to Minchey.

On a different note with the same dumb thought from the no-brain trust at BGI, tanking a season is a great way to watch your guys enter the portal en masse.

No cap, we’re probably going to need to take grad transfer QB for next year, too. Buchner just isn’t going to be the guy. Need a bridge to Minchey/Carr.

Even Singer called him out on it.

I’m not going to post everything he said, but his rant was ridiculous.
He talks about how talented ND is with young guys, & Hartman doesn’t help with that.
Says ND has no speed like SEC, but somehow they will next year?
Then says next year is the 12 team playoff & the committee won’t do ND favors (yes they will, LOL), and if ND doesn’t make it, that’s the same year the TV deal is up & ND won’t be able to negotiate a good deal if they aren’t in the CFP…( Seriously? ND will always be able to negotiate. They negotiated an extension after going 3-9).

Saban did a bet w a friend saying he could win a Natty w a bad OC…..

Love seeing Saban and Rees crash and burn. Going to be great if Bama losses more than 2 games this season.

They just need to burn that whole outfit to the ground. They add no value to any conversation.

Players that stood out to me today (in a good way):
Sam Hartman - Looked every bit as advertised. Start the Heisman campaign (no italics)
Jayden Thomas - Great chemistry with Hartman and has the look of a true possession receiver
Jaden Greathouse - Great separation and caught everything throw his way
Jason Onye - Disruptive inside
Jordan Botelho - Breakout year is coming
Nolan Ziegler - Dude made some plays where he looked like he was shot out of a cannon
Audric Estime - The "bowling ball" is going to be fun to watch with an offense that has to respect the pass game!

Players that stood out to me today (in a bad way):
Tyler Buchner - Seemed hesitant to throw the ball downfield. Maybe his receivers weren't getting any separation...
Blue team WR's - Very disappointing performance
Aamil Wagner - Got pushed around and looks like he needs to add 20+ lbs
TE's - I know several were out, but I expected more from Staes and Co.

From what I could see. The following were good: Hartman, Thomas, Greathouse, Payne. The rest I just could not tell.

This is such a stupid argument. College football isn't the NBA where you tank or bide time to set up your "window." Most guys only contribute for two maybe three seasons, and these days everybody's on a one-year contract. Just do everything you can to win right now now, and let the chips fall where they may next year.

Disappointed in the tight ends?
Yeh, I guess, me too, since they were all injured.
Our TEs DO have something to prove, but this was no test of that.
... and the one "starting" TE healthy had the wrong QB anyway.

I beg to differ on ND being a title contender. Ohio State has QB problems and a in experienced OL I feel confident against them, Clemson I don’t think will be great they’ll be good but their QB isn’t outstanding either. Only game that I don’t feel confident is USC

If Hartman is as good as advertised, we should have a shot to beat everyone we play. In my book that makes us a title contender.

ND would be in trouble if they didn't land Hartman through the portal.
For those who had doubt in Hartman do you still after this game? He was mobile in the pocket, has a sharp release, and quick to find option 2.
Buchner looks very uncomfortable in the pocket and he had the better WR's on his team.
Angeli looks like he has learned more from having Hartman in the QB room.
I like all of the names given to Hartman, but Greathouse has a chance to be Great in the House Rockne built. Goodbye Styles, hello Greathouse!
Payne is a shifty RB, very impressive. I think he could be very versatile as a slot to backup Tyree if there is too much RB depth.
Too bad Colzie and Merriweather didn't get drafted to the gold team.
Holden Staes has beefed up, can he be a pass catching TE like Mayer?
Nice to hear Sneed's name get called- had 7 tackles, he is going to push for PT.
Speaking of linebacker Ausberry had a couple of nice plays in the 2nd half.
I sat on the sideline of the gold team, whatever injury Billy Schrauth had he walked to the locker room very slow, hope he is OK.

Go Irish!

I agree with you, Hartman had a good connection today with his WR's. He will have plenty of options/weapons for the season. Our offense could be a top 10 offense this year.

I've watched the same show. He is really just saying that has been his argument up until this point. I actually don't even think he is saying play Buchner (he has abandoned that argument) its more play the young guys.

Hartman threw good to Thomas and Greathouse. Add Merryweather, Tyree and Colzie and we have something.
