My Gosh this game has me up to 4am Hoarding weapons and armor to sell. My Character is going to be on an Episode of Imperial Hoarders soon. I literally spend more time managing inventory then fighting. I was in a tough battle with Giants, (well Lydia was...as I was watching from afar launching arrows) when she fell in battle. I had been using her as a Mule carrying all my crap. I carried 1084/350 back to camp by foot using whirlwind sprint LOL. It took me over an hour to get back just so I could sell the stuff. SMH . I normally only play Sports/Shooter games, but Oblivion, and now Skyrim are EPIC. As soon as I found out you could become a Werewolf, it had me.

This, especially the bolded... I too hoard like crazy, though I now am hunting all the mines... major dollars there... and I have yet to use any of my friends in battle... I do believe Lydia ia a marriage character, so i think that shall be her role for my character... either way, beyond sports games and the rare shooter like MW... this is it...

Simply amazing game. Forget which review it was, but they nailed it when they called it completely immersive. Which of course is the best compliment you can give a fantasy game.

I actually have to resist the urge to play it while I still have coursework to do. Which I suppose is my twist of a compliment as well..

As far as inventory management goes, I 'd buy a house ASAP and use it to store all my extra stuff. Also, when I'm looting to sell (as opposed to use) all I pay attention to is the ratio of weight to price. Early on the ratio I shoot for is 10:1 and it rises as the game goes on.

As far as time management: this game has destroyed any ability I might have had in that particular area. It seems potentially endless.

Bethesda owns my soul. TES is my favorite gaming franchise of all time. Morrowind and Oblivions consumed me for months.

My inability to play Skyrim is killing me. My current rig is broken, couldn't handle it even if it was working, and now that I have two kids and a third on the way, my gaming days appear to be done.

This game is so addictive right now i am level 11 with 9 dragon kills so far. Graphics are amazing though.

I'm a 13 Imperial, yet I have only fought the first Dragon by the Watchtower... funny how they seem to be so completely random...

Let's share some info on our characters...races...names...levels...etc.

Let's really geek out here.

Mine is Chir'daki...which is actually a Star Wars novel reference from my middle school years...
It means "Death Seed" in Twi'lek.

Chir'daki is a level 27 Nord...who is fond of one handed weapons with a shield...He also is big into destructive magic...Quite the Blacksmith as well...72ish Smithing...Speech is right behind at 69...I am a manufacturer of goods!
He rocks the heavy armour...Currently rocking some heavily improved steel plate all around.

He resides in Whiterun in the lovely little Nordic cottage known as Breezehome. Living with him is his bodyguard/personal assistant Lydia...to whom he intends to eventually marry.

As you should. No matter, Skyrim makes losers of us all.

Currently playing a Wood Elf assassin/thief named Qara Qoz (name means Dark Eyes in Urdu, I stole it from the eponymous* heroine of Salmaan Rushdie's "The Enchantress of Florence".) She rocks light armor (currently wearing a set from the Thieve's Guild) uses a sword or dagger (15x sneak attack!) in one hand and destruction magic in the other. Also pulls out the bow every now and then, especially when Dragons come out. So far I haven't taken out a Dragon 1 v 1, I usually try to lure it to a group of enemies and sneak around plinking it with arrows while it fights them. She got married to a female in Whiterun (can't remember the name, but she wants to be a trader) but she's afraid of commitment, so she's seriously considering slitting her wife's throat before they move in together.

What else... this particular character has so far avoided taken sides in Skyrim's civil war, but worries that things in Skyrim will turn bad for foreigners if the rebels have their way, so if events push her to choose sides, she will likely side with the Imperials. For now though the focus is on becoming the best and richest thief and deadliest assassin in Skyrim.

Best moment so far (without spoilers): making a complete leap of faith off of a waterfall to escape a trap sprung after a successful burglary of a VIPs stronghold.

Worst moment: having a giant kill me and send me flying a couple hundred yards in the air.

*Usage question: does the word eponymous still apply when something is named after a nickname? I.E. Qara Qoz is the Enchantress of Florence, the book takes its name from her.

I love it.
Chir'daki is a Nord...male...so he will likely side with the Stormcloaks and defend his homeland from foreign control.
I am really digging the smithing and enchanting aspects.

Got the game last night..... and I am flat out blown away how amazing it is.

I kinda get the feeling that the Bethesda folks took a page from their Fallout days (in terms of leveling up and "perks") and administered similar things in Skyrim.

Yes, Todd Howard specifically mentioned that they are drawing from Fallout 3's leveling system and not going with Oblivion's.

This game is fantastic.

Sadly...I am going out of town until Sunday...so I will be away from my beloved Nordic cottage in Whiterun and my wonderful assistant Lydia for nearly 3 days!

Feel free to share some details on your adventures.
I was attacked by a dragon at the stones outside of riverwood and upon vanquishing my foe...I was attacked by another dragon in Riverwood itself...thing was landing on houses and attacking everybody. Intense.

I've killed two dragons....

The main one (part of the story)

and one that landed while I was pursuing an escaped convict outside of Riverwood.

I saw a third circle overhead while I was climbing the 7,000 steps on the way up to High Hrothgar (sp?)

I'm still in the beginning stages though, lvl 13 Imperial. One Handed is 52ish Heavy Armor is 40. Conjuration is 35 kind of a mix of a lot of stuff.

Using the Skyrim Steel Sword, which I sharpened to an "excellent" condition it's dmg is 28

I have never played any of the other elder scrolls games, but I just got Skyrim. Any tips? Which species is the best to play as?

It doesn't matter much. Decide which syle of combat suits you (Melee, Archery, Magic, Sneak & Stab, etc.) and pick a race that starts with bonuses to those skills.

I will say that the Breton base 25% resistance to magic is incredibly powerful at higher levels/ on hard difficulty settings.

Not at all. There's an occasional reference to Oblivion, Morrowind, etc. for fans of the series to appreciate, but it's an entirely self-contained and well-explained story line.

Exactly,

If you had played Oblivion or Morrowwind, you might get a couple of little references they make, but it certainly doesn't make a difference.

However, I would definently recommend picking those games up, well worth the money.

Just play it and enjoy it...Night one of my weekend away from Skyrim :(

Oh well...thanks to the Amazon preorder credit the strategy guide only cost me 6 dollars...and it's 655 pages of heavenly goodness...I don't want to use it until I beat the main quest line once or twice...but I may peruse some maps or some item lists in it for kicks...

My smithing is a nasty nasty 82....I'm gonna hit 100 by Tuesday...then straight dragon armour time. I'll be impervious to all damage.
