Interesting thing I heard this AM. The CFP is separate from the NCAA. Even if the NCAA finds Michigan guilty and takes away their regular season wins, the CFP would have to separately take away their championship. Would that happen?

Honestly, does it even matter? The fact that they got to play in the playoffs, win a game, and play for a title is bad enough. This wasn't some he said, she said off-the-field drama. They got caught in a massive cheating scandal. IMO, they should've been disqualified from the B1G title game and CFP entirely. Even if they win and the CFP takes it away, they'll still forever be able to say "yea, well we still won the game."

Not sure if either really matters, at least to Michigan fans. They've already been through this with the Fab Five. They know that even if they take it away, all that matters to them is that they won the championship on the field/court. Would they throw a fit claiming that it was unfair, sure. In the end I'm not sure it will matter much. They would probably care more about loss of scholarships and being prevented from playing in future post season games.

They are going to take this away just like the Astros world series.

So much spin now that they are in the championship game. Just wait till they lose , its all about justification.

I'd take a Notre Dame asterisk national championship in a heartbeat lol.
That's the problem college sports face; that most fans feel this way. The NCAA would have to hit Michigan so hard that it's NOT worth it or these things will accelerate.

It's particularly a concern because the procedural rules effectively bar any punishments from happening during the season where cheating takes place.

America loves to kick a dead horse. If they lose it would be one of the best days of my life.

Whatever happens, I hope Jesse Minter is in the NFL by the time the NFL Carousel settles.

NFL Black Monday is upon us, too.

Wait, the Fab Five won a championship? I thought Weber self imposed and called timeout on any ‘ship. 😉

if the old Deadspin was still operating they'd be keeping all the shit/rumor/made up BS they have on Michigan for this week. Sad times we live in

This may appear hyperbolic and extreme, but if the NCAA doesn't hammer Michigan for the cheating (not to mention all the other stuff they did this season), then I may be done with CFB as a fan. I'll still care about ND and how the program is doing, but that's it. In sports, the spirit of the game matters. Ethics matter. Integrity matters. Without those things, what's the point? I'm just one person, so I'm aware the machine will chug along. But I just can't bring myself to care about (or spend money on) a sport in which the rules don't matter and the cheaters prosper.

Ethics, Morals and integrity for most of college football is gone. Is all about money $$.

It’s just like all the Patriots titles. The fans don’t give two fucks about the * !
Can't really use the Spygate as a legitimate comparison.

Pro leagues don't generally vacate wins or championships. There is no such precedent set for anything of that nature.

There IS a precedent for college football, and wins/championships have been vacated for FAR less.

Not to mention, at least from what evidence we have, Spygate is nowhere near as widespread and egregious as what took place at Michigan.

There's no getting around the fact that Stalions did indeed cheat in order to give Michigan an unfair advantage and that spanned across all three of their CFP seasons. Even if he was fired prior to the playoff, evidence of cheating is still traceable to as recent as this year.

All three of Michigan playoff seasons are tainted and there is not only far more evidence condemning Michigan for either their involvement or lack of institutional control over one of their own staff members, but there is a precedent for vacation of wins/titles.

I have a weekly staff meeting Monday mornings. This morning the guy on my staff that is a scUM fan walks into the conference wearing a Michigan shirt and hat, stops and flaunts it in front of me. Once everyone except him had given their update, I ask if there is anything else. He replies "You forgot about me". To which I promptly replied, "No I didn't". lol

He's going to be unbearable if they win.
