Anyone know where we stood with Moten prior to his commitment to the Canes?
Boy that would be worth investigating by the staff.

If I am Golden, I want guaranteed 7 years, I'd want to get past the sanctions and have several years to rebuild.

Before his verbal to Miami, Anthony Moten had shown interest in Florida. Alford is his recruiter, and Corey Holmes is a teammate, but he has not shown any interest for Notre Dame .
Louisville fans seem to really want Petrino
surprised Pinkel hasn't gotten any attention for the Texas or Penn St. jobs...i don't think he would have gotten either job or if he would be interested, but he's been pretty successful over the years
I dislike them, but I think Missouri is a better job than Penn State.
No way.

PSU has more prestige and is a better program but I don't think it's as desirable of a job based on the comments O'Brien made. I don't know why anyone would want to coach there unless they're a Paterno/PSU guy.
On the flip side, Mizzouri is comment-free because no one cares about them and they have no tradition.
They've been very good for the last several years. I think it's getting harder and harder for "traditional powers" to maintain dominance in this age of TV exposure. Maybe I'm just in knee-jerk mode, but I think Penn State could be in trouble.

Their historical level of dominance? maybe. Their dominance? nope. The top 10-15 programs always have been and likely always will be the same, with a few rising (florida state, MSU) and a few falling (colorado, UM) between decades. It all comes down to who has the money to build the facilities and hire the coaches to be the best.
^ Could be big.

Missouri in the SEC can recruit the south. I think it's going that direction quickly.
But I hope you're right. I hate them with a fiery passion of a thousand hells.
could you explain?
stanford's defense has been pretty damn good under his watch, with him potentially leaving that would only be a feather in our cap as we have to play them every year...obviously we will play ul but it is going to take time to develop w/ his players IF offered the job

makes sense....thanks
another off topic note and again with no information....i say if stoops leaves, i'd go after kingsbury at texas tech....i know he's young, but he's a stud coach that knows how to develop QB's and score points
It comes down to coaching 100% of the time, in my opinion. Every program outside of Ohio State has had eras of poor play, all due multiple bad coaching hires.
While Missouri may be in the SEC, Penn State is one of the premier names stretching from eastern Ohio, through Pennsylvania into New Jersey and New York, and down to Virginia too. There is a shit ton of talent in those states.
Every program is in trouble if they don't make the right hire. Look at Texas before Mack Brown, USC before Pete Carroll, Alabama before Nick Saban, Notre Dame before Brian Kelly.
