I think it depends who you trust. I've read that Tosh is more loyal to Wilcox than Sark so he may not be as much of a done deal to USC as other people are saying. Personally, I don't care if Tosh ends up at SC because they're going to get top talent anyway. Wilcox, however, is a great coordinator and him at USC could be scary if he got to work with all that talent. Hoping Peterson can keep them on board at Washington

Peterson gets the juice of being in the pac12 and gets to stay in the northwest. This w/b interesting to watch. I said UW wud never be good again after Ty decimated them.

I just mentioned in another thread that I think Ed O would be good for Boise. Thoughts?

Good chance ND will be the first team to get a shot at a Chris Petersonless Boise State. Will be interesting to see what kind of immediate impact the loss will make.

Potentially but it won't happen. They have already named like 5other guys that would be ahead of him. Apparently the Ark St coach is the top candidate.

I hope Peterson is a thorn in USC's side for years...I think they picked the wrong guy out of Sark and him.

Teams that lose their HCs either:
A) Pack it in.
B) Play out of their minds and super motivated.

Always seems to be a coin flip. I've never seen a team with an interim bowl game HC play a "meh" game.

Sounds like Coach O would prefer to head back to the South East, he reportedly applied for the FAU job.

Wow...didn't realize I was so far behind on this. Did this just happen (as in minutes ago) or is this something that got reported earlier today?

Look for former Boise State assistant Bryan Harsin to be a leading candidate to replace Chris Petersen, who left for Washington.

Harsin spent 10 seasons at Boise before becoming co-offensive coordinator at Texas prior to the 2011 season. After two seasons at Texas, Harsin replaced Gus Malzahn as head coach at Arkansas State.

The Red Wolves are 7-5 in Harsin’s first season there.

New USC coach Steve Sarkisian is working feverishly to assemble his staff.

Trojans wide receivers coach Tee Martin will be retained, while the Seattle Times’ Adam Jude reports Washington linebackers coach Peter Sirmon will join Sarkisian at SC.

Former Huskies defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox and uber-recruiter Tosh Lupoi would like to follow Sarkisian, but both coaches have big buyouts to keep them away from other Pac-12 schools and those remain a hurdle.

Sarkisian targeted UCLA offensive line coach Adrian Klemm, but FoxSports’ Lindsay Thiry reports that Klemm has come to terms with the Bruins and will remain at UCLA.

Sources tell us that Bowling Green head coach Dave Clawson is a serious candidate for the UConn job.

At Wyoming, it looks former Cal head coach Jeff Tedford is the leading candidate.

If Tedford isn’t the guy, sources tell us Sam Houston State coach Willie Fritz and Eastern Illinois coach Dino Babers could emerge as candidates. Bobby Petrino’s name has also been floating around.

Our sources indicate that it’s just a matter of time before a deal is finalized for Ball State coach Pete Lembo to become the new head coach at Wake Forest.

Wake AD Ron Wellman flew to Muncie on Wednesday evening to meet with Lembo and spent the night, which is a good sign that it was more than just an interview.

According to Kirk Bohls, attorney and Texas mega-booster Joe Jamail says Longhorns’ coach Mack Brown could decide his after weighing outcome of Baylor game. According to Jamail, “(Brown) has not decided.”

Meanwhile, Texas president Bill Powers issued a statement essentially saying Brown’s future had not been decided and that no deal has been struck with Nick Saban.

TCU’s Gary Patterson has hired Houston offensive coordinator Doug Meacham in the same capacity.

Sources indicate that Iowa State defensive coordinator Wally Burnham is leaning toward returning next season.

UCLA has hired former longtime USC assistant Kennedy Polamalu as running backs coach.

At Florida, sources indicate that Arizona State offensive coordinator Mike Norvell could be a serious player to replace the fired Brent Pease. UCLA’s Noel Mazzone has also been linked to the job.

247Sports reports both could choose to remain at their current jobs. Sources tell us that Mazzone would likely be more open to a move, but to rule neither out.

Sources continue to indicate that if SMU’s June Jones either leaves or is fired, Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris and Sam Houston State coach Willie Fritz are expected to be serious candidates.

CSU-Pueblo coach John Wristen will interview for the Eastern Michigan job.

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn doesn’t want to talk about a contract extension until after Saturday’s SEC Championship Game, but athletic director Jay Jacobs is expected to reward the first-year coach with a new contract that will put him in the top half of the highest-paid SEC coaches.

“We want Gus to be here as long as he wants to be here,” Jacobs said on Thursday.

“We’ll have a deal that is great for him and good for Auburn.”

Hypothetically, if we lose Diaco, what about ED-O for DC? He has the experience on that side of the ball, California connections, and is a much better recruiter than Diaco from what I understand.

The handshake between Kelly and Ed O says all you need to know about him ever coaching at ND on Kelly's staff.

My big question is how much are these assistants actually getting paid? 450k isn't even good money for a coordinator and it's what Martin took to be HC at Miami of Ohio.

At most "big time" schools coordinators make well north of 500k. If there is one thing I have no clue about, it's what kind of compensation of assistant coaches have... but I sure hope it's competitive.

I'm surprised Gundy (OK ST) hasn't gotten more offers. He seems like a player's coach and his spread offense is consistently really solid.

Apparently we are now paying competitive compensation and I think we have been since Kelly was hired and it has gotten better from there. Probably one of the main reasons that Alford is still on this staff. IMO, Martin just wanted to be a head coach and probably wants to take over for Kelly someday.

He was a four year QB starter at Okie St. Would be tough pull for anyone, but T Boone Pickens hates him.
