This would be all too sweet... but then he would be staying in So Cal.... I'm torn.

I just don't see anyway UCLA offers him the job, outside of pure spite. Which I guess is ok, assuming they're ok with forever playing second fiddle to SC.

And then Eddie V would have the position coach he spurned last cycle as his head coach!

Holy hell the irony is thick!

I am happy for Chuck and this would be a good hire for Miami of Chicago. It will be frustrating going and finding a new OC but maybe Kelly will call plays again

Does Kelly have any connections to Norm Chow, or would Chow have any interest in ND?

Any chance Kelly promotes Alford to OC?

I think Denbrock is more likely. Alford will remain recruiting coordinator. Then we will hire a young, energetic position coach, a la Scott Booker. Just my guess.

Well good luck to Chuck Martin. Good dude, not the world's greatest OC or recruiter.

Hopefully this doesn't have an affect on any of the recruits... most notably Barnett.

Any smaller school's OC looking good? Or do they with the promote from within approach.

Denbrock would be a fine OC, I bet Kelly takes back the playcalling anyway. But I would prefer they go with a coach who actually specializes in coaching qb's as the hire for QB coach and not just move Denbrock over to that position.

Another thing to consider is that I think that at one point Kelly said that once they had a spot open up that Ernest Jones might get the job. I doubt he would coach the qbs though

Oh yeah, good call on Jones. I'd forgotten about him. It looks like his background is mostly on defense or with running backs though. We need a QB and/or WR coach.

What I'd like to see is us promote Denbrock to OC, leave Alford as recruiting coordinator, then hire a young former QB to be our QB coach. Someone like Ben Mauk, maybe, who has played for Kelly. Tommy Rees would be perfect if only he had a little more seasoning.

I heard Beau is debating about giving up his role as a Mod after Kelly offered him the OC position. Apparently, BK caught wind of his coaching abilities from this post:

I see...

Well here you are then, this is certainly Fireside Chat worthy...our season ended long ago, but my junior high team managed to go undefeated this year, a perfect 10-0 record (a shit ton of games for a junior high squad, right?). Anyways, it was amazing. Last game of the season we won on a jet sweep pass with less than a minute to go. Throughout the season me defense played very, very well. Nobody could run on us. For a 1A junior high school, we had a load of talented players and great kids. We only had 10 8th graders (we play as a combined team), but they were all fantastic.

After an undefeated season, my career as a head coach only goes down hill from here!

And Tommy Rees would be a fine choice for a graduate assistant! The eyes of Texas will be on Baylor this week. Could Texas be a destination for Gus Malzahn? Would a coaching vacancy in the SEC allow Ed Orgeron an opportunity to slip in the back door? Mora to Washington? The possibilities are endless this time of year.
