Don't think we have a thread yet for all of the coaching moves that inevitably happen in the off-season. Feel free to drop NFL moves here too as they almost always have a ripple effect through CFB. And as always, national recruiting craziness as we inch towards NSD.

Sarkisian to USC is a big domino because it also opens up a middle tier job.

Saw this tweet a moment ago:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>A source tells me the Miami (OH) has their sights set on Notre Dame offensive coordinator Chuck Martin. <a href="http://t.co/PlcOjaDwu1">http://t.co/PlcOjaDwu1</a></p>— Pete Roussel (@coachingsearch) <a href="https://twitter.com/coachingsearch/statuses/407878824223727616">December 3, 2013</a></blockquote>

After how play calling improved at the end of the season and how Chuck Martin has done recently building relationships/recruiting guys like Barnett, I'd actually be very sad to see him go.

If Chuck has to go then I wish him the best. Does Kelly take over full reigns of play calling going forward or does he bring in a OC? I just can't see Kelly giving a OC the keys to the bus. If he does bring someone in, hopefully he hits a homerun like he did with Harry.

Being an alum of Miami I want to see them do well. I don't want them to take Martin though. Outside of our RZ problems, I think Martin's playcalling and EG will match beautifully.

I am really curious to what will happen with Texas. That could cause some big dominoes to fall.

My impression (and maybe I'm wrong) is that BK always kind of wanted to take play calling back anyways. I believe in his first season or two he said he felt he needed to get more involved with the players, program building, and the "other" things that go along with being the ND head football coach. Now that some of those things have some stability after several years in the program, I kind of expected him to turn his attention back to the offense next season anyways.

You do make a very good point. But sometimes you need to keep everyone in check to prevent some laxidasical approach.

This is a really good question. If Kelly wants to maintain control then the most obvious move would be to promote from within but I don't know who that might be. Denbrock? IMO, it's more important to get a real QB coach on staff and not just re-assign someone with no experience with that position group.

Good point about Denbrock maybe Alford if Kelly takes back the play calling.

But I think if you want to go after a good qb coach on the outside then most would likely they would want to be OC as well since most are likely OC where they are now. Hope the best for Chuck either way but there would be a bunch of questions opened up if he did leave about the OC position.

On Kiffin and UF OC job...

UPDATE: 10:45 a.m. ET, Dec. 3: We're told that while Kiffin has major interest in the job, the interest really isn't mutual. He is no longer thought to be a candidate for the job.

I doubt Martin would leave at this point. He has great love for ND. The same kind that we do.

“@Realdawg247: Have just heard this morning that Mora has been offered the UW job, and there were negotiations last night with UCLA”

Mora will no doubt come out on top in this situation, either he take the UW job or probably gets a improved contract at UCLA

I would say rather that he only gave Martin play-calling duties because he completely trusts him. They go way back, Martin ran Kelly's system (or a slightly modified version) and called the plays as Kelly's successor at Grand Valley, and Kelly and Martin are just on the same exact page all the time. Not sure there is another coach he would trust with the offense to the same extent.

Yeah either UCLA dumps a truckload of cash and a new practice facility or he leaves for a Brinks truck to coach his alma mater.

Re: Mora being offered the UW job..

Now it's wait and see -- what I heard is that UCLA got busy last night and put all their cards on the table, but will it be enough? It may not come down to money with Mora, it may just come down to his heart.

Am hearing we may know something within the next few hours. Woodward isn't taking any prisoners on this and will try to get some resolve quickly and efficiently so if he needs to move on to the next guy he can.

Would be soooooooo funny if Mora left... especially since Washington would upgrade from Sarkisian to Mora.

100% speciation on my part but I would guess Hendrix would go with Martin if he were to leave for Miami (OH)

I really doubt it. He's academically a senior, going to med school, and has no future in football.

Oh man it just makes too much sense. Hendrix is even from Cincinnati, which is like 45 minutes from Miami.

That's what I said. A pre-med kid with no NFL future doesn't hang around for a 5th year just to play football. He goes to med school.

Orrrrrrr he takes a masters program or other pre-med oriented coursework to make his application profile more competitive... and plays football for another year because he enjoys it......

I knows tons of kids who got a masters or worked or took a gap year of some sort between finishing undergrad and med school.

He could just wait a year before med school and have some fun. He doesn't directly have to go into med school and I doubt waiting one year would kill his application. He probably worked super hard these last 4 years, taking a year with some easy classes and football wouldn't kill his chances
