It will work. We have a quarterback this year that not only they respect but they should fear. They cannot load the box. We also have better receivers than last year. Hartman over Buchner is a radical upgrade.
They will load the box. We will have to win by passing.

If we are scared to run with our oline (best tackle in country, the other one is very good good also, strong guards- Coogan's run blocking underrated), and our 5 headed monster at backfield, then we not only won't we win this game but deserve to lose. Please don't use last year as an example of Ohio St stopping ND's rushing. New backs, more oline continuity and experience, record breaking qb. Good luck to any team trying to stop Estime/Price all day long. Yes, they will stop our run some, but eventually our backs will break one and wear down their defense. It will open up the offense. This game is going to be a chess match.

Teams run on OSU, they do every year. No way NDs line, backs and QB is inferior to Michigans who had a heyday with OSU. ND has just got to step up and play with the attitude that teams always seem to have when coming into ND's house.

The way to beat OSU is to out-physical them. This year we can hopefully do that as well as hit some big plays in the passing game, which was an impossibility last year.

I agree with everyone we need to run it and out physical them. What I don’t think we can do is bring out 3 te packages and try to run the ball. I think we need to spread them out and run it. It’s what they are going to try and do to us as well.

Totally agree. Telegraphed runs won't do it, I like spread runs and motion runs. And if Hartman doesn't like it he has ghe bodies already on the field to change it.

Their front 7 is very good. I'm less convinced their DBs went to OSU to tackle.

I have a feeling Parker has some plays up his sleeve, we haven't seen really any jet sweeps or trick plays yet this year.

I would line up Audric in the backfield and put Love or Price or Tyree coming across for a jet sweep and let Audric block.

MF pregame better be:

“Saturday night, we will be ruthless and violent.

We will burn the boats, and show no quarter.

If you can’t stomach summoning your inner demons and unleashing hell on earth for 60 minutes straight,I have good news: mass is Sunday morning, and you can sort it out with Jesus then.”

They meant 4 game but this is still telling both on ours and theirs. Their front 7 seems better than what we faced last year.

I dunno. I feel like the only way you stop our running game is to load the box. And then Hartman kills you on the outside.
Maybe Ohio State has the dudes to stop both at once. But we have dudes too.

This needs to be a heavy Audric Estime bruising kind of day. I don't even care about Harrison Jr. If Estime can eat this game is as good as ours, and that boy likes to eat. Estime is Marc Edwards on steroids. Hes a blend of Mike Alstott and Mark Ingram, but faster. I think the matchups are in NDs favor and I can't remember a time in my life when I could say that and actually believe it.

OSU's qb hasn't been tested yet and it'll be interesting to see how he reacts when the pressure is on.

Rasputin gets a sense that Parker agrees that the key to victory this Saturday is a successful running game. It is no accident that he called those deep balls to Merriweather and Tyree last Saturday when ND could have just ground and pounded CM all day. That's a subtle message to OSU that if they want to stack the box right from the start, ND is not afraid to go over the top, and will be successful doing it. Getting OSU to respect the deep passing game should free up the running game. If they don't respect it and stack the box, Hartman will take his shots down the field until they do.

I'm fine running but if OSU is giving away opportunities to get hashed through the air, please do so.

Brought in Hartman for games like this. Don't be afraid to use him.
Yup. We should play very similar to Michigan the past two years imo. It worked for them twice and nobody else has had much success so I don’t see why we wouldn’t copy them. If I were freeman I’d be copying that blueprint. Michigan has a similar team to Notre Dame, and that they have really good running backs, a good offensive line, and a pretty good quarterback. The big difference I see between us is that Michigan probably has a better defense of line. The advantage in my opinion is that we no longer have to deal with a first round quarterback.

The only good quarterback Ohio State faced last year was McCarthy (Bennett?) and I don’t even think he’s as good as Hartman

I had the same thought. I'm kind of expecting a playaction deep ball within the first 3 plays.

Also I would love it if ND can run the ball without using Estime too much in the first half. Then use him in the Derrick Henry role in the 4th quarter. OSU will be tired from chasing Love and Price around, then you have to try to tackle Estime when he is fresh.

If that happens,
