Old enough to remember Bob Davie going 0-5 against Michigan State teams that - except for Saban’s last season there - were not especially good.

The 23-7 loss in 1997, game three of my freshman year, was the day I realized that maybe, just maybe, we weren’t really going to be competing for the national championship every season like we’d been told.

How times have changed.

I think they'll have a hard time scoring on us, I think their defense could give us some issues to start like Wisconsin

I was a student in the stands at MSU then and once delivered a pizza to Nick. The lineups on those shitty Saban teams were always dotted with All-Pro talent and other stars, including inherited players. There was plenty of talk about firing Nick prior to his respectable Year 5.

In terms of talent vs. results, Saban's tenure at MSU was probably the worst in school history, and his effect on the school's all-time winning percentage was negative.

MF seems pretty confidence the run game is gonna figure it out - emphasized it needs to be more "explosive", nothing about the OL really.

Freeman sounds like biggest “concern” with MSU is they are gonna try to play keep away offensively

But didn't they not have a winning season for like 5 years prior to him going there? I get that he didn't light it up and all (until the last season he was there), but seems like his effect on the all-time winning percentage can't truly be a negative.

They are now ranked slighty ahead of the Badgers in the SP+, ranked at 60th compared to their 66th. But their D is considerably worse, ranked 62nd compared to 24 for WI.

If Sparty wants to try and play keep away and sustain drives by pounding the rock, I think it's going to be a long day for them. Their RB transfer from UConn is good, but they don't have a running threat under center so it helps we don't have to key on multiple guys most plays. I can't see them attempting to run all over us and keeping it close.

They have a pretty good LB / Co-DC who knows us pretty well. Their D will have some fight in them.

I think that if any coach in America saw what Rice tried doing on the ground last week and then turns around and game plans to try and go run heavy against this team, that would be grounds for immediate termination.

The only way you're going to beat this ND team is scheming multiple big passing plays and taking Moore out of that equation as best as you can, and I just don't see Sparty having the dudes to do that

Toledo had the lead early in the fourth quarter against Michigan State.

This ND team means business and they're mentally prepared enough to know about the more recent history of Septembers rather than stuff that went down when they were toddlers.

I'm sure MSU will be all amped up for a home night game against Notre Dame, but after a few shots to the mouth, gut and testes it'll all be over quick.

Not sure where to ask this, so please move if necessary, but is the baseball parking lot and the Joyce lot considered the same lot if you have a Joyce parking pass? I have looked at different websites, and it's not clear, but on all the 3rd party resell sites, it shows that the baseball lot is considered the Joyce lot too.
Anyone know the the two lots are considered the same place to park? Thank you

Michigan St doesn't have the talent to score on this defense and they aren't gimmicky enough to cause problems. With all these non-Miami, non-BYU games, it's just a matter of how quickly the ND offense heats up because these offenses aren't going to score enough.

A little more 33 Trucking and a little less finesse on the OL/TE maybe? Seeing Fields last night reminded me of how mauling WR blocks are important. I am hopeful we see improved run game as the OL gets some experience together. It would make sense to challenge the stacked RB room rather than point out the OL that you want to lock down and avoid having it in flux.
