It's interesting how a bunch of posters are annoyed with other posters for being pessimistic after Miami.

I don't see any of these posters predicting or stating they expect ND to be improved and win this next game? There's more Monday morning quarterbacking of statements like "you guys really thought ND was going to be championship caliber this year with a first-time starting QB and new DC?"

ND returned 15-17 starters (depending on how you look at a few) from a team that just played in the NC game. We should be (and may end up being) really good, but we weren't close to that vs Miami. We were flat with passive game plans on both sides of the ball, and our play reflected it. Maybe Miami will be NDs NIU moment from last year and we come out locked in, flying around, aggressive, and be who we thought they should like we did at Purdue last year (i do not expect ND to blow A&M out even if we play great).

There's a lot of unexpected things that come with a first game, but what I never expected was how soft and with lack of aggression ND played no matter what the play call was. That to me was extremely disappointing and didn't expect that from a freeman coached team in a big game.

The last poster who got called directly out for being pessimistic only offered this as a post:

“Bad vibes all the way around. I have a feeling this is going to be another disappointing year after breaking through to the natty last year.”

This has frankly nothing to do with the Texas A&M game. It’s just self loathing nonsense.

Can some post a visitor list for the game or names expected to attend?

It’s very very long. Honestly I’m behind on the 2027 names but a ton of high profile visitors + basically every commit.

Dale - Maybe its time to drop a new Marcus Freemen pic, just something to change the mood. I bet that fixes everything.

This somewhat captures the shift in perspective I've seen from fans. Everything pre-game was that they were relying on a dozen transfers to start, how they lost their #1 overall pick, how they lost all 6 WRs, how their new QB had a new OC and didn't get to work in the spring (an excuse we used for Leonard forever).

But now it's like "well duh, what'd you expect". Apparently Miami can turn around a culture, get 1-year guys gelling, and break in a QB/OC with no spring much better than we can.

The word you said in your post that's most disappointing to me with the Miami game is "culture". I thought ND and Freeman had built a culture that they would always be physical, fly around, violent (as captains said leading into the game), and no matter who is in or "next man up" mentality, they are going to bring it. The Miami game couldn't have been further from that. We played and coached on our heels, soft, tentative, reactive, etc. Very shocking especially in a big game. I have significantly more concerns coming out of the Miami game losing by only 3 on the road than I did after the NIU game and the Ohio State game from last year (and there were obvious issues coming out of both).

ND didn't give up vs Miami, but they also didn't play to win for 60 minutes.

Hinish is listed as a starter, if he comes out and actually starts vs A&M that's absolutely ridiculous. Knapp doesn't deserve to start but I don't think they are prepared to make such big changes at OL as it would take to move him until jagusah comes back. If the OL can protect, I think NDs offense will put up a lot of points. IF NDs interior DL doesn't get pushed around and can control the interior A&M run game with bowen, I expect we'll make passing at times difficult for reed. I don't know how anyone could be confident in our interior DL as they have been pushed around 3 games in a row, and after Miami, our Tackles will be really tested this week again. It will be the most athletic DEs we play in the regular season.

Do they actually travel well? There wasn't big presence last time they were here for the Davie Bowl.
Just based upon the Aggies I know, a handful are making the trek north but the excitement isn't as high as when UT traveled to South Bend back in 2015

Because it’s the same few posters beating the same dead horse to the ground for 2 weeks and it’s surely going to continue for another few weeks with anything short of a 49-0 win over Texas A&M with 500 yards rushing.

The game against Miami sucked. ND lost to a top 10 team by 3 points on the road and probably played very poorly compared to how they will play the rest of the year. All this over-analysis of one game is pointless.

Being annoyed at pessimistic posters is much like being annoyed at someone who only shows up to get super involved after ND has lost a game, despite being completely radio silent between the UGA and Penn State wins.

It’s almost like our year-long contributors can spot the trolls that only like to be here to vent when things don’t go well in a given week. Those same folks have all the answers, so I guess they just don’t have much to say when ND actually wins games.

But it’s a mystery, for sure

Pessimistic posters are a problem. Some are simply trolling.

However, sunshine pumping posters are becoming just as much of a problem. Anyone who raised any concern at any aspect of the team heading into the Miami game were shouted down as bed-wetters.

There are ongoing concerns with this team. Do I think they are going to get better over time? Certainly. Will we wipe the floor with A&M? Maybe. Will our offense continue to struggle against quality opponents as Carr gets more game experience and our OL becomes more consistent. Probably.

Group think is not a problem that's limited to social media.

Orrrr, you or another staff member restricted my access - Mystery for sure

my 4k+ posts here aren't only after losses. I just state what I see, always have, always will. Not always right, and i'll shout it to the roof, i'm not at practice, practice is important, but I can only off what I see that happens during the games.

I don't want to waste time on this crap, i love ND football and discussing it. This is the best place, no places are perfect.

I’m just annoyed you came back. However predictable after a loss.

My, in my opinion, reasonable and maybe obvious take -- we need some serious improvement on the line this game and for the rest of the year. Still just hoping there was something going on -- flu, noise -- that caused regression from the tackle spots. We just didn't even seem to get into our pass sets in time. Lambert being inconsistent is whatever, he'll get better with reps. We clean that up and I'm not worried about anyone including A&M.

Cashius Howell for the Aggies has been announced as the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week. He had 3 sacks in 3 consecutive snaps against Utah State
