Hopefully not. I think if you win the toss, you want the ball first because of the offense these guys run. I think you also need to consider fourth down situations and bypassing field goals, which we all know Coach Free has zero issue with.

If a Freeman Notre Dame team can go unbeaten in September, sky is probably the limit for said team. He's yet to do it.

ND under Freeman is 12-6 in September. Notre Dame has only lost 5 times outside the month of September under Freeman (not counting the bowl game he was an interim coach for), and only once since 2024. ND in September is a solid team, ND in any other month is a top 3-5 program in the country under Freeman.
