What is their "predictor"? Is it a model or something?

All of the people picking UT honestly have me throwing my hands up and just wanting the game to start. I really don't understand how any reasonable person, and certainly any prediction model, could pick them over us. This is a team that most likely will start a true freshman QB and center. A team that got beat down by us last year. A team one of the least talented olines in the Big12. Meanwhile, almost everyone has us winning 9-12 games. So one of those losses I'm supposed to believe comes from the hands of a team we let our foot off the gas on last season and still beat 38-3?

Give me a fuq'n break. We're gonna beat the brakes off these bitches.
I haven't seen this prediction, but it's possible it's FPI. Preseason FPI (and almost all preseason models) are utter garbage. You get all sorts of credit for "returning starters" even if your returning starters are bad at football.

Kind of where I'm at. I've been worried about their offense, our inexperience at safety, our QB platoon, their improved defense...

But all these people picking Texas, the Texas players tweeting about "dabbing on Notre Dame," etc. and I'm starting to think we beat the living hell out of them. Pretty much every time a Kelly team has been "disrespected" we have drastically over-performed the projection. Most recently, his semi-famous "you shitting me? they must not know we are" speech before the Georgia Tech game in response to being listed as the underdog. And in 2012 against Oklahoma, that team was ready to bust some freaking heads after being listed as two TD underdogs.

So... hopefully we channel some of that.

Actually didn't know about the GT speech. Do you have a link to the video?

Random thought. When's the last time if ever ND and SC opened the season in the same state?

.

I have no freakin clue... just thought I'd put it out there... I wanted to confirm the time of the game and their game preview page was the first thing that came up and at the top of the page was a 'predictor' that gave Texas a 56% chance or some such of winning,... Wiz is prob correct it's prob some FPI thing or some such.

I don't think it's some unthinkable thing though, we lost a lot of play makers from last year, are very young in the secondary and are starting on the road... I can see where some experts would have questions.

are all these people picking texas the same ones that voted us in top 10? so confused

Also, I would be interested if Max had been dismissed back in spring ball would people be jumping on these Texas picks? are they influenced by recent events, etc..

Texas is probably getting a 20-30% bump for playing at home, too.

Don't worry about people picking Texas...it's the sexy thing to do right now by a buncha guys that love to say "I told you so" if they get it right.

Their D is terrible. The QB situation is terrible. And the Oline is subpar.

What worries me is like others have mentioned...Burt and that host of WR's will make big plays. Let's just hope it's not for TD's and we limit the damage.

Our offense just better live up to all this hype I've been reading on IE the last few weeks.

I am actually fairly confident in our corners, it's up top, like everyone else I would assume, where I need to see it... I'm not so much expecting disaster as much as I honestly have no idea what to expect.

I also am curious to see where the offense is at with two QBs, three starters gone on the OL and no Fuller, CJ, or Alize... I'm not quite sure where our extreme confidence is coming from there, but again, I'm not expecting disaster but I'm not convinced of a sure bet either.

The bad news is that Baylor's offense is relatively easy for a QB to master, as long as he can throw a serviceable deep ball, and our safeties are a complete unknown.

The good news is that our corners are probably gonna be up to the challenge, as they are better than most people are aware of, and that our monster d-line has a chance to make Texas one-dimensional, thus helping out our unknown safeties tremendously.

The other good news is that with everyone taking Texas as the trendy pick, it's gonna look reallllllly nice in terms of the national perception to come out and beat them by three scores.

Only thing I think we really need to worry about on D is with our linebackers tackling their big backs, but even then I think we do fine. Bold Prediction: We rush for 300 on them

In the words of Bret Bielema, that would be "borderline erotic."

Stephen Bailey of Syracuse.com did an interview with ISD a few months ago on what to expect from this year's 'Cuse team. Much of the conversation revolved around new HC Dino Babers, who, like Texas OC Sterlin Gilbert, is a Briles disciple who runs the Veer 'n Shoot offense. One of the more interesting quotes from the interview states that Babers himself says his offensive system doesn't fully click until midway through year two. I can't help but feel Texas fans and talking heads alike are getting a little far ahead of themselves with that they can expect the offense to look like in game 1 under the new system, especially when a true freshman QB looks to be taking the lion's share of the snaps from a true freshman center.

We definitely have the line, the backs, and the playbook to accomplish it against Texas' front seven. Just depends how much Kelly wants to push things and see what MZ and DK can do

That dude is my spirit animal.

He is a spirit animal to many of us. Especially those of us that are out-of-shape white dudes.

How does one expand this? I can't read it, it's too small.

Interesting things:

Kraemer is backup at RT.

Trumbetti is starting. Dealin and Jay Hayes are in an OR situation as the backup.

Cage and Jones in an OR situation, as well.

Jamir Jones backing up Onwualu. No sign of Barajas or Bilal on the two-deep.
