The correct call is DON'T blow the whistle, not blow it incorrectly and THEN decide to enforce the rules.

You also can't kick the ball down the field as a Syracuse player did and you can't assume the play goes the same way if the refs don't blow AND if a cuse player doesn't illegally kick the ball...

Btw that clusterfuck at the end of the half is exactly why the NFL originally had the "can't review a fumble if play blown dead".... because when a ref blows it dead as a spike, everyone stops playing. 6 ND guys standing around that ball. They added "clear recovery" only for when people keep playing naturally AND someone obviously recovers. The first condition was not met.

Refs got it very, very wrong and cost us at least 3.

Wtf dude that's an impossible call for the refs. The refs know he is going up there to spike the ball and they know they have to blow the whistle a right then. By the naked eye it looks like a typical spike, so the refs did what they are supposed to do. What moronic teams fucks up a spike

I was called much worse by my high school coach, we all were on the team. It made you make sure not to make the same mistake twice. Don't take what the coach says seriously. Take WHY he said it seriously.

Really poor play so far on the offense. They can't get out of their own way but the defense looks very active.

Let's hope this is our team getting the bad plays out of their system before Stanford rolls into town. Golson has looked shaky and he needs to compose himself over halftime. I expect at least 3 more TDs since we've been driving it easily but keep shooting ourselves in the foot.

Correct, there was a player for ND 60 or 80 years ago that would kick a fumble, outrun everybody and scoop and score. The rules were modified to prevent a team from advancing a ball they had kicked. A player can knock the ball out of bounds but can't advance it by a kick.
