probably means let him roll out and kick "Aussie Style" rather than sit back there and keep conventional punting which aint working. They'd have to switch up formation/blocking scheme/coverage scheme for that of course so it would affect everyone on that unit

I think Sampson mentioned that. Its almost like they want him to control it and be more directional. Just let him kick the piss out of it.

Only seen them lose to FSU in '11 bowl game, Pitt in '13, Stanford in '16, Cinci in '21. Team is 19-4 overall when I'm at the game, only two losses at home

Just making sure. I'm sniffing out the board's Jonah.

Or, since he’s new to the sport, they are emphasizing “don’t screw up” instead of cutting him loose.

My first game was Boston College 2002, and I didn't see a win until 2005. So I stand with everyone who has been cursed with attendance.

Were you at the Marshall or NIU games?
I was at Michigan 06, and Marshall. Don't worry, not planning anything soon. I also bought a no 1 authentic jersey in 06, and the only good players to wear that since are Louis nix and javontae jean babtiste. Unless we count dj hord lol. Fuck me I feel old. I just want a notre dame championship. We do it right. We've been through enough. We deserve it....

MF seems like a focused man in this press conference. Looks like a man who's not going to put up with whatever bullshit that may have occurred during the NIU week.
I've said this before, but I can't give him the benefit of the doubt. I thought we'd turn the corner this year, but this has been a reoccurring issue. Given our schedule (especially the way FSU has fallen), we had one "get out of jail for free" card when it comes to the College Football Playoffs. One mulligan. That's it, and we used it up on Northern Illinois. Highly disappointing.

We've got to move on and take it one game at a time at this point. Should we roll Miami this Saturday? Yes. I expect the Irish to win by at least three touchdowns, minimum. Would I bet the farm? Nope.

I think we’d have a better chance at beating Tennessee than Miami Ohio. Just how ND rolls.

Miami mucks everything up and they don't make mistakes. The defense is great. I have a bad feeling again. Bet that under.

So a one dimensional offense isn’t gonna work this game?

I don't think Freeman lets the boys lose focus two home games in a row and go 0-2 against MAC opponents.

However, -28 does seem steep considering we haven't been able to throw the ball with Leonard. Miami is a quality opponent and defending MAC champions, and they've played a respectable non-conference schedule so far. They'll be ready to roll.

The ND beat has been pissy towards fans still complaining. I get it as it’d be nice to enjoy each victory for what it is before moving to the next game. Here’s what I don’t think they grasp:

Purdue sucks…much more than we thought & evidently worst than what bettors thought leading up kickoff…LOL

To me the ND win over PU tells us about the same thing that the PU win over ISU showed us….nothing.

Miami OH has a good pass defense but struggles against the run (small sample size but they did play two P4 teams). Let’s hope MF & the players aren’t as full of false confidence as the beat seems to be. They acknowledge PU sucks but again did that game tell us much other than PU can’t tackle, our defense shut them down & we now have a smaller margin of error on the OL?

In a way, the Purdue blow out just made me even more angry about the NIU blunder. Two inferior opponents, two completely different results.

You can't tell me that NIU would blow out Purdue. At best, they are slightly better or on par if they went head to head. Just another MF slip up in year three. Upsets happen, that's why the games are played on the field. I guess we'll see if Freeman can get to 11-1 and salvage the season.

"Defense is great" They played Northwestern and Cincinnati. And lost to both. Not exactly greatness.

Chuck Martin remains one of my favorite ND assistants of all time. Love his no bs approach and his love for ND was always evident. I'll root for him in every game outside of this week.
Was on the defensive side of the ball his entire career and made the move to OC under Kelly. Not exactly customary career trajectory.

He's stayed at Miami OH for a while. Shows the kind of guy he is, I suppose. Would have liked to see him make his way to Illinois at some point. Seems good where he is.
