On paper, easily the best team we will play in the first half of the season.

If we beat Michigan and MSU, I think there's a good chance we head into the USC game 6-0 (I'm not serious, I am the board jinx).

I will be in the building for this one..

Paybacks a Bitch

We need to pay back these guys this year for sure. I still get mad at losing to them last year on that fake. I'm sure you will have an awesome time at the game. Only wish I could be there in person as well. I hope this is the year where our defense shuts them down and our offense puts enough points on the board where we don't have to sweat this game out.

Updates from Sparty's fall camp:

- They scrimmaged four days ago (8/21).

- First team defense did not allow a touchdown.

- Kirk Cousins was 11/25 for 153 yards and an interception.

- Wide receiver B.J. Cunningham had 96 yards. I think he's always been overlooked because of their running game and Mark Dell.

- Seems like sophomore linebacker Max Bullough is going to be pretty good.

- Dantonio was not pleased with the OL. Too many false start penalties.

I guess MSU fans don't go onto our forums to discuss the game like UM fans, huh?

Michigan State blogger ranks opponents by likelihood of victory

#10 -- at NOTRE DAME, September 17th. 8-5 in 2010, wins against Boston College, Pittsburgh, USC, Miami.

[T]he Fighting Irish staggered for the first nine games of the 2010 season, then found their footing and beat Utah, Army, USC and Miami. Notre Dame returns more starters (19, including special teams) than any other team Michigan State will face this season. Dayne Crist has once again emerged as the starter, and Michael Floyd will be back after avoiding suspension. I'd say something, but, uh...glass houses. There's no reason to expect this Fighting Irish squad will lose any momentum from their strong finish last season; the top six tacklers return, as well as the top three receivers. The only reason the Irish are tenth on this instead of eleventh is that I'm much more confident of MSU's ability to play in South Bend than...

He has @Iowa at #11 and @Nebraska at #12.

Got all my travel plans in line for this game....with the exception of tickets for me and my dad. If anyone is looking to get rid of two tickets, please PM me. Thanks.

Sparty now leads 14-6.

Youngstown State has been able to sustain drives, but Michigan State is shooting themselves in the foot with a fumbled punt and a couple of key penalties.

They won't shut the **** up about the fake field goal, like it's the greatest moment in Michigan State history.

It should be noted that the counter draw that Kelly loves to run is carving them up.

It was pretty bad ***. It hurt to the point that I almost cried when it happened, but it was pretty legit.

They are up 14-6 on Youngstown State with less than 1:30 left in the half.

False starts, holding calls, etc...

Won a lackluster game, 28-6.

Ran for 161 yards on 35 carries. Really struggled running up the middle. Got most of their yards attacking the edge, where they had a clear speed advantage.

Defense was not impressive. No pass rush and terrible tackling.

Look out for BJ Cunningham. Had 9 grabs for 129 yards and a touchdown. Looked very good tonight.

1) If I recall correctly, their rushing success last year was on the edges. They rushed up the center for little success but as soon as they went off-tackle thins opened up for them. The DE's and OLB's will need to show up.

2) I can't take a guy named BJ seriously. Plus it was an FBS team. That horsecrap he pulled last year filled me with anger.

Oddly enough, I fully expect to win next week. Put me down for a 31-24 victory.

I like that pick.

Notre Dame needs to keep their morale up. That is the biggest issue.

Win a slug-fest with Michigan State. Then regroup and smash Pittsburgh and Purdue. Beat Air Force, and get to the BYE week and USC.

Not the toughest task. The Michigan game was the hardest game of the year in my opinion.
