I'd bet any amount of money that Kelly wants to run the ball as much as possible so they keep the Irish DBs off the field. Injuries at the safety position would be incredibly damaging.

Looking at Texas schedule, they are a minimum 8 win team. Probably better than that though.

I may have missed it but I definitely don't see many giving credit to Texas for playing pretty stout on both sides of the ball. Their recruiting has been better than ours (specifically in areas of need) both of these past two seasons, and they ran a Baylor offense with two 250 lb running backs in the Texas heat at home in front of their largest crowd ever, seriously doubt we see those specific circumstances again much less from Nevada. Closest I could think of would be USC, but they are even more paper thin on DL than we are so they shouldn't give our running game as much trouble. In case it's misconstrued, thanks Buster for being objective and pointing out Texas actually has a decent team or what would appear to be a decent team.

Buster, I wouldn't really say much about Baylor last year when Texas beat them. Their starting QB was out with a severe neck injury and surgery, their true freshman 2nd string qb broke his foot, their 3rd string QB was out with a ankle injury, so a SR WR who hadn't played QB since his junior year in HS with no practice has to play 3 quarters. And their 1st string RB out too. That isn't a win to hang your hat on for an example.

Nevada beat FCS Cal Poly 30-27 in OT.

Against an FCS team, Nevada scored just three points in the final three quarters of regulation.

Cal Poly outgained them 445-363, including 383 yards on the ground. Yes, Cal Poly runs a triple option, but 383 yards is just wild.

This will be a good game for Notre Dame to get their feet under them defensively before Michigan State. They absolutely need to get to the Stanford game at 5-1.

Screw Stanford, they need to get to the SC game at 10-1.

Eff that. Let's just hope they can manage 1-1 heading into the MSU game.

Right now I am very scared with this defense. Reminds me of the pathetic offense of the BC game last year and and we won something like 19-14. So, I take nothing for granted when ND walks on the field with this Defense with Van Gorder.

Exactly... I think Texas will be a 8 win team, They have always recruited well, they just never had an offensive system. Now they do...

The playoff hopes doesn't die with the loss, but I don't think We are running the table. I am just thankful for the short week. I need to get the taste out of my mouth of that loss!
