Seemed like a guy that learned a lot from his past mistakes but that success threw him back into the same bad habits. You'd think he's done, but I'm sure some G5 school would gladly take him for grins. Hell, Akron should give him a call.
Speaking of Bama, rumor is that Saban isn't particularly happy with the defense. Does Gary Patterson go to the rehab center and DC for Saban?
Yeah, Ed seemed to have shored up his weak spots as a HC and looked to have learned from past mistakes. Not so much, or, as you said, he had but then slipped back into old habits. I've just never thought he was legit HC material. Great position coach and recruiter, and probably a phenomenal interim guy to get you through a rough time, but not built for permanent residency in the corner office at a major program.
I hadn't thought about Patterson, but that's not a bad idea. Saban (and everyone else) is pretty disappointed in our D this year. We were supposed to have our best defense in years, but it's adequate at best with lots of cracks in it.
What about Pruitt? I know he was the DC before going to UT, him and Saban get along?
I think they got along pretty well and certainly worked well together. I'd love to have Pruitt back as DC. He's maybe the best in CFB and he's a killer on the recruiting trail. I know I'm ready to see Pete Golding gone. He just isn't cutting it as our DC. Pruitt makes sense and has reportedly said to friends that he'd like to go back to Bama. I think there's a good chance it happens after this season.
