Last year the SEC enacted a transfer rule of any player who had serious misconduct limited to sexual assault, domestic violence or other forms of sexual violence from playing for a league school. The SEC meetings now are discussing expanding that transfer rule for players enrolled at an SEC institution.

Expanded SEC ‘serious misconduct’ transfer rule well received, but decisions on freshmen left to schools

SEC Commissioner, Greg Sankey, said about excluding minors:
“If you’re transferring from a university, you’re generally of age, you’re 18 years or older. You’re in a higher education setting. You’re in an environment that maybe is very different from that in which you lived as a child, as a minor. Generally speaking before enrollment, they are minors, you may have difference access to legal records and information.”

https://www.seccountry.com/alabama/...gnee-kendell-jones-will-not-enroll-at-alabama

Kendell Jones, a four-star defensive tackle from Shoemaker High School (Killeen, Texas), will not enroll at Alabama this year after failing to qualify academically, multiple sources told SEC Country. He began junior college classes Monday, his father, Kendell Sr., told SEC Country. Kendell Sr. would not say in which school his son has enrolled.

He will have to spend two years in junior college and will be free to sign with any school upon graduation.

I think I'd love him if he weren't working for Saban.

Report: Second LSU signee fails to enroll in summer class this week

LSU’s 2016 recruiting class looks to be down a second signee this week as defensive end Andre Anthony appears to be joining Edwin Alexander in failing to enroll for summer classes.

If both Anthony and Alexander fail to enroll this summer, the Tigers will be down three defensive linemen signees in total in the 2016 recruiting class, as defensive end Sci Martin also has yet to enroll in classes at LSU.

According to Ross Dellenger of The Advocate, Anthony’s eligibility has yet to be officially cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse. Anthony’s issues stem from his time at New Orleans’ Miller McCoy Academy, a school which has since closed down. Acquiring Anthony’s academic records from Miller McCoy Academy appears to be the current holdup in the process.

If all three linemen fail to enroll at LSU this fall, the Tigers’ 2016 recruiting class will feature only three true defensive linemen: Rashard Lawrence, Glen Logan and Caleb Roddy.

After NSD, LSU had the fifth ranked class nationally. Anthony and Alexander are four stars and Martin is a three star.

What a turd. He keeps saying "I own it," and "I take responsibility," then throws in a "but.....but......but" before making some asinine comment that denies any responsibility. Fire this goon now.

I remember Fine$%# defending how Ole Miss got these great classes by saying if you ever met Hugh you'd understand how these kids love him and want to play for him-now the same Fine^%$# is on the attack and spouting off about the improprieties and getting people to call in to say such things like -- it was only a few thousand $$$$$ and maybe these guys should be paid -- Hell they are already being paid "get a reality grip down there boys". It would make a good comedy if it wasn't true.

And you know all have been expecting this news I am sure...

District Attorney declines to prosecute arrested Alabama Crimson Tide players Cam Robinson, Laurence Jones

"I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I'm doing this is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all in the air conditioning," district attorney Jerry Jones told KNOE-TV.

According to the police report, an officer approached the players' vehicle at a park that was closed and smelled marijuana. The report alleges that a bag of marijuana and a handgun were in plain sight, and a stolen handgun was found under the passenger seat.

Robinson was allegedly driving the vehicle with Jones as his passenger. The stolen-firearms charge Robinson faced was a felony, while the other charges for Jones and himself were misdemeanors.

LOLz SEC. If you ain't cheatin you and tryin.

Roll Tide.

(DA settled with Saban for one game suspension - the LSU game)

Attorney reveals new details in Cam Robinson arrest, why case was doomed from start

"There was no justifiable grounds for prosecution under any evidence rule that exists," Guerriero said in a phone interview Monday afternoon. "It's basic 101 Law that there were no grounds for prosecution based on what happened."

Is he saying that I refuse to prosecute them because they are football players?

Should we also assume Alabama classrooms do not have air-conditioning?

THE OLE MISS REBELS SHALL BURN IN OBSCURITY: SHERMAN'S MARCH TO THE SEA

Some of the best quotes are capitalized.

The Ole Miss Rebels represent the University of Mississippi and their name is shortened to Ole Miss for the benefit of their fans. It's a difficult word when your state ranks dead last in educational performance. Vaught-Hemingway Stadium adorably expanded its capacity past 60,000 for this year. CONGRATULATIONS ON ECLIPSING PURDUE'S CAPACITY. WEREN'T YOU SEC PEOPLE SUPPOSED TO BE THE MOST FANATICAL COLLEGE FOOTBALL FANS? COULD IT BE THAT THIS IS JUST AN EXCUSE AS TO WHY YOU'VE GOT NOTHING ELSE GOING ON?

THAT THIS TEAM SHOULD CALL THEMSELVES THE REBELS DESPITE THE ACTUAL CONFEDERATE REBELS BEING ANNIHILATED TWICE IN OXFORD IS ABOUT AS IRONIC AS IT IS TREASONOUS. YOU FOUGHT THE UNITED STATES AND YOU LOST. IT'S TIME TO GET OVER IT.

THE SMELL OF THE BONG SMOKE CAN'T HIDE THE SMELL OF THE BAGMEN, MR. FREEZE.

THE LAST TIME MY CONFERENCE BEAT ALABAMA, THAT TEAM WON THE NATIONAL TITLE. YOU'VE SQUANDERED MORE OPPORTUNITIES THAN LANE KIFFIN.

I HOPE THE HAMMER COMES SWIFT AND HARD FOR YOU, OLE MISS, BUT EVEN IF IT DOESN'T, YOU'LL STILL NEVER WIN THE SEC AGAIN. THEN YOU'LL HAVE TO POINT TO YOUR LAST RUN OF NATIONAL RELEVANCE, WHICH WAS OVERSHADOWED BY THE FACT THAT YOU VIOLENTLY RIOTED BECAUSE A BLACK PERSON WAS TRYING TO ATTEND YOUR SCHOOL IN 1962. YOUR GLORY COMES WITH A BIG SIDE OF SHAME. ALSO A DRINK AND DESSERT OF SHAME THAT LEAVES A SHAMEFUL AFTERTASTE. THE CONFEDERACY CONSISTED OF SLAVEMASTERS AND TRAITORS AND I'M GLAD IT'S DEAD.

HOTTY TODDY GOSH ALMIGHTY WHO THE HELL ARE YOU? POWERED BY ILLICIT BAGMEN, OLE MISS, THAT'S WHO.

Imagine if he went to Ole Miss. Domingue is from Louisiana, was a Groza semifinalist last year, and is a grad transfer having gotten his LSU degree in "General Business".

LSU is freeing up scholarships. . They had four kickers (and a punter) on scholarship including Culp from the '16 class who they promised would play this season. Three players have yet to qualify. I wonder if all three have, but it's not announced.

Saban gives Shank the hook: Alphonse Taylor indefinitely suspended from team

A first offense DUI will earn you the dreaded Saban Internal Discipline; but, a DUI from a 5th-year senior that also includes a leaving the scene of an accident charge?

Yeah, that'll piss off the head man something fierce.

I'd have hated to be Shank on the leather sofa when he had that face-to-face with Coach Saban this morning.

Saban's statement is as terse as it is ominous:

Alabama indefinitely suspends starting lineman Alphonse Taylor – CollegeFootballTalk

"We are very disappointed any time a player makes a choice that leads to this kind of behavior," the head coach said in a statement. "We are still in the process of gathering all of the details on the situation, but from a football standpoint, Alphonse Taylor has been indefinitely suspended from the team."

Coming in overweight (again) and struggling to hold on to his job at right guard was already going to make fall camp difficult. Whether or not he is reinstated (and he probably will be, assuming we're not talking personal injuries and the like,) he may never start another game for the Crimson Tide.

As far as I know, Tony Brown, DB, is still indefinitely suspended.

Is Maurice Smith still in limbo as far as his graduate transfer? Then there is Cam Robinson and Hootie Jones - corrective actions?

The article that I read said that they fired BB guns at a dorm and caused $1000+ in damage. Serious but definitely not missiles as we normally think of them.

He went on and on about how satellite camps are against the 'scholastic spirit'... he must have said 'scholastic' 20 times... This is Hugh Freeze... and Ole Miss... smh. I mean, the interviewer knew he was full of shit, the audience knew he was full of shit, he had to have known everyone knew that he knew he was full of shit and he just kept droning on about scholastics and such.

Extraordinary. Smith can play immediately as a grad transfer for teams other than Georgia, He graduates from Alabama on Saturday. Bama cleared out his locker after he announced in June. I guess by inking with Bama, Saban has you for four years even though scholarships are renewable yearly at the coach's discretion. Saban renewed the scholarship after Smith's announcement. Now Smith has graduated but has not been accepted at Bama's grad school. Is he even eligible at Bama?

Alabama should take the high road on Maurice Smith and let him go to Georgia

Instead, a system that gives all the power to coaches and schools, a system that requires a blizzard of paperwork to let players try to make a move that coaches make with regularity, has conspired to create uncertainty and turmoil for Smith and his family, who could've handled things better themselves.

It's a bad look for Alabama in particular and major college football in general.

The latest development was a contentious meeting Tuesday between Smith, his parents and Alabama coach Nick Saban. Smith's mother, Samyra, described it to me as "a knock-down drag-out."

Smith's letter to the university appeals committee also included a copy of a text message he said he received from an Alabama athletic official on June 23 at 11:54 a.m. that read, "Bro I can't have u at facility. Not for workout, lunch, anything. All in or out policy. Sorry Bro."

That seemed to be the last straw.

"Although I had done nothing wrong, I basically was ostracized from the team and felt I was being forced to make a decision to transfer," Smith wrote. "On Thursday, June 23, 10:07 p.m., after much prayer, discussions with my family, UA and UGA coaches, I submitted an email to UA Compliance and requested to be released to University of Georgia."

Father of Alabama DB Maurice Smith hopes Nick Saban has ‘change of heart’ to allow UGA transfer, says son ‘mistreated’

His father said Smith was allowed to work out and “do all the things he was normally doing,” about a week after.

“He said `Dad, it’s not even that,” his father said. “’This is the reason why I don’t feel like I can trust playing for this man. If he did that to me, I just don’t feel comfortable being there.’”

“If he had his choice, he would rather be at Georgia,” his father said. “It’s only because of the system they’re running. That’s the same system he’s been in for three years. It just makes sense for him to be there. That’s the reason he chose Georgia. That’s what he desires but based upon our meeting yesterday we are kind of like in a holding tank right now. Until he actually walks on Saturday, he’s kind of just stuck.”

Saban told his parents that he had "penciled in" Smith's name as a starter. Mom replied, "pencils have erasers". Maybe their congregation can say to Saban, "Let my people go."
