You do know that Saban is still employed at Bama and has an office on campus, right?

I do, he can get kick rocks for it too

Thank you for adding even more credence that a premier voice in college football from CFP to Capitol Hill is extremely biased in his stance.

I know you are rightfully defensive of any negative view of Saban, but you simply won’t sway me or most ND fans about a SEC/Bama loving ESPN employee given last year.

In an interview like this one, he is presumed to be talking as a commentator, not an employee of Bama. Even at that point, the we could apply to Bama, not the collective conference. The whole we thing for SEC has been and continues to be incestuous.

It would be one thing if it was just ole Nick Saban being a homer for his old team/conference. Holtz did that for years with ND. But context matters. When Saban is sitting there as an analyst passing along SEC propaganda while reporting on SEC media days on ESPN, who are already extremely in bed financially with the SEC and have an outsized influence on who gets into the playoffs, using words like "we" when stumping for the SEC to get even more favorable treatment from the playoff selection committee is a bad look.

You guys obsessing endlessly over the SEC and making a mountain out of a mole hill over Saban saying "we" is interesting.

I can’t believe Notre Dame fans in the SEC thread of an ND message board are complaining about SEC Media Days going on this week.
Especially when that the person saying "we" is referring to the school and conference that lobbied to get into the CFP last year, keeping out ND in the process.

I think "we" all need to start acknowledging that the college football landscape is dramatically different today than it was in the 2000s and 2010s, so being the strongest conference in those periods should play no part in determining who is most deserving in the current era.

Of course he's biased. Everybody on the planet expects him to be except for a handful of people in here. Lou was biased for ND during his broadcasting career. Everybody expected it. That you and a few others are surprised or bothered by it and making a big deal about it is the surprise. Saban coached at Bama for 17 years and is still employed there. You really don't think ESPN knew that and expected him not to still advocate for Alabama and the SEC? I think a few of you let the SEC live rent free in your heads too much and see everything as some vast ESPN/SEC conspiracy. Let it go.

I am not surprised (anymore) by it in the slightest, you can like Saban, and I can not. That’s okay. We are fans of sports team that don’t share rooting interests.

You’re high horse white knighting for no reason. You’re on a ND message board the year after Alabama got in over ND to the CFP. I mean zero offense, go to a SEC message board if you want pro SEC talk????

I don't expect pro SEC talk here. I'm trying to get you to realize that you sound like a butthurt jilted 14-year-old girl whining constantly about another conference or opponent. It's weak. It's unseemly. It's the sort of shit a cellar dwelling also ran does, not what a blueblood does. Other fan bases around the country make fun of a segment of ND's fanbase for whining about others' success. FFS, even other ND fans here on IE have criticized fans like you for this sort of weak bs. You sound like bloody Gollum whining about "I hates Bagginses!" Win. Stop whining. Toughen the fuck up and stop blaming your team's problems on the SEC or anyone else. You sound like a fucking Auburn fan with all the crying and blaming and whining.

ESPN is heavily invested in the SEC, therefore they constantly prop it up as the best conference. ESPN controls the playoff, therefore the SEC gets 4 of 7 at large bids. ESPN controls there narrative, therefore it became a ND vs Miami debate while an absolutely dog shit Alabama team (and Oklahoma too) got a free pass. It’s not even a conspiracy. It’s all right there in the open

The irony of this take when you're sticking up for Saban saying the SEC should get more teams in the playoffs when they just went 1-8 in the postseason against teams that aren't also in the SEC or fucking Tulane.

That’s fucking rich when the entire conference has been throwing a pity party about how unfair everything is during media days

I hate the fact that the committee said they went back to watch week 1 of Miami and ND when they should have gone back to watch week 1 of bama getting raw dogged by a terrible FSU team. Tell me that team deserved to be in but ND didn’t. The SEC needs to come down from their high fucking tower and realize this isn’t the same college football landscape it was 10 years ago.

I'm not sticking up for Saban. I'm pointing out that the SEC isn't stopping ND from winning a championship and non-stop whining about the SEC, Saban, or any other entity and blaming them for your problems is weak as baby piss cut with Coors Lite. Some of your fans sound like Opie Taylor when he didn't win the race and whined about, "Them other boys got my medal." Stop it. Act like a blueblood instead of whining and blaming all your problems on ESPN, the CFBPC, the SEC, or anyone else. You're ND, FFS.

The SEC stopping us from winning a championship literally just happened last year.

Come on Doc, you’re smarter than this.

You were very unlikely to win a championship last year. You had a good record but a weak schedule and lost to your only top 10 opponent. We aren't the ones who voted you out of the playoffs. The committee did that. Surely by now you know I'm far from being anti ND. I like your program and generally pull for you, but the incessant whining and blaming everyone else for your shortcomings is not what I'd expect from a blueblood program. It's a VERY bad look.

Bishop, hate to break it to you but we are not ND and you are not Alabama. We are message board posters. Marcus Freeman coaches and the players play for said blue blood.
Then act like fans of a blueblood program instead of fans of some 3rd tier program that's never won squat. Those sort of fans make excuses and blame everyone else for everything. Stop that shit. You should be embarrassed.

Tell Pope Saban to stop complaining?
Nick's doing his job advocating for his school and conference. It's what he's supposed to do. It's what your guys are supposed to do. It's what Lou always did for ND. That's how it works.

So being a bitch is allowed only if you cash a check for doing it? The more you know

FYI - I never said Saban can’t do his “job”. I don’t have to like it. You don’t have to agree. You’re the only person in this scenario trying to impose your will on anyone else.
