I think the stat is 6 teams have won since 1964. Interpret it any way you see fit.

11 teams have won a Big Ten title in that time frame, not counting Oregon last year. You can also interpret that how you will.

Does Indiana even try to schedule any challenging or marquee OOC games? Or does that extra conference game against Northwestern/Minnesota/Maryland/Purdue/

Out of all that I’ve been to, if I had to rank them for a visitor:

1. LSU - All around best experience (tailgating, stadium, environment, etc)

unbiased of course!

I tease, I think 99% of posters here would agree that ND is the best for visitors as well, but it certainly is up there nationwide and I don't even think that's debatable. Amazing campus, great tailgating, friendly fans (almost to a fault), etc etc.

I'd love to get to some games in the south. One day...

All of these teams should be held to a higher standard. This mega P4 conference scheduling is ruining what has made college football so great: the fact that it's a national sport and every week used to matter.

Now, regular seasons are becoming more and more regional. We are watering down the regular season (and even the conference championship games) by expanding the playoff and giving x amount of auto-bids to the SEC and B1G. It's disincentivizing SOS and frankly ruining the sport. It's a mini-NFL now.

OOC regional and/or national match ups and even rivalries (like USC ND) are what made this sport great. Michigan Notre Dame in September used to be a game that could make or break a season in week 2. Now? We are accepting that 9-3 might be good enough just to get an invite to the dance. That's not what I grew up watching.

The SEC jumped off a bridge so you think it's okay for IU to do the same? It's so pathetic.

Get rid of super conferences, send everyone who jumped ship out of the PAC back (except Colorado). Send A&M, Texas, and Oklahoma back to the Big XII with Nebraska. WVU to the ACC along with UCF, and Houston can stay in the Big XII.

Would make CFB better, and open up scheduling again.

Get rid of super conferences, send everyone who jumped ship out of the PAC back (except Colorado). Send A&M, Texas, and Oklahoma back to the Big XII with Nebraska. WVU to the ACC along with UCF, and Houston can stay in the Big XII.

Would make CFB better, and open up scheduling again.

I'd go back even farther to the days of the Pac 8, Southwest, WAC, etc.

I would almost rather the Big 10 drop their 9th conference game and make teams play a P4 nonconference game. The lower and middle teams of these conferences are given so much benefit of the doubt without having to prove it because they can use one of two arguments 1. Wow look at how good Bama/Georgia/OSU is! Our conference is clearly the best and we deserve more playoff appearances or 2. Just win the hypothetical matchup (“yeah, Nebraska would clearly beat SMU, do you not know ball?”)

Notre Dame has a great gameday experience. It's different than most the ones I've been to, but great. It's unique in that you've got plenty of great events/traditions peppered across one of the prettier campuses I've been on.

I like that. I like the smaller conferences (10-12 teams) as it affords more out-of-conference scheduling. I wasn't old enough to remember, but take a look at the schedules of teams in the 80s and 90s...tons of great OOC scheduling across the board instead of scheduling directional state for an easy win.

I agree with all this, but generally, most SEC teams put at least one big OOC opponent on the schedule. Most of the Big Ten (excluding Ohio State and Michigan), however, doesn't.

I’m ok playing those directional schools. But it should be 1 of 4 OOC games, not 3 of 3.

But yeah, marquee crossover matchups ON campus are what a fan wants to see. None of this bullshit at Jerry World and other soulless NFL stadiums.

The Big Ten needs to stamp this out by taking UNC and Virginia. This would give them an Iron lock on the west coast AND the east coast as well as the mid-west.

Let the SEC have Florida State and Clemson. I don't think their academics would qualify for the Big Ten anyway so they would fit right in. Not trolling. It's a legit issue. They don't have AAU accreditation.

At some point, you'd don't have a conference, but a crowd.

I saw a good analogy on another board in that the conference expansion is like the craft brewery boom 10 years ago. It was new and exciting, and now, consumers are generally over it and are opting for basic beers as opposed to your avant-garde IPA/Sours/Pastry Stouts/etc.

That would be surprising to me only because I always assumed they would be on the B1G side of the line when it was all said and done.
